Anna Faris and Regina Hall are the latest of the original cast to confirm they’ll return for the Scary Movie reboot that is releasing next year. Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans co-penned the script with Rick Alvarez for director Michael Tiddes’ newest offering.
“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again),” Faris and Hall said in a joint statement about their characters, via Deadline.
Shawn and Marlon Wayans, and Dave Sheridan are also expected to reprise their roles as Ray, Shorty, and Doofy, respectively.
Known for its spoofing of horror flicks, the Scary Movie films began with the first title in 2000, followed by four sequels. He also directed three Wayans films: the satirical horror comedy A Haunted House, and the Netflix films Naked and Sextuplets.

Step inside the official BLACK MIRROR graphic novels, brought to you by indie publisher Twisted Comics. Discover humanity’s worst traits, greatest innovations, and more waiting within these mind-bending tales, adapting the work of one of the most groundbreaking television shows of the 21st century. The flagship series will take flight in this first episode-to-graphic novel adaptation, USS Callister, with Neil Gibson as writer, Silvano Beltramo as artist, and Butcher Billy providing the series covers.
USS Callister depicts Robert Daly (played by Jesse Plemons in the series), a programmer who creates a virtual reality game called Infinity. Dissatisfied with his day-to-day, Daly clones his real-life coworkers using stolen DNA within a modded version of Infinity, casting himself as the heroic Captain Daly of the USS Callister, a Star Trek-inspired spaceship. He forces his digital coworkers to participate in his fantasy, mistreating them as he feels mistreated in reality. When a new employee, Nanette Cole (Cristin Milioti), joins the game, however, she rebels against Daly’s tyranny and rallies the crew to fight for their freedom. The episode was so well-received that it led to a sequel in Black Mirror season 7, titled USS Callister: Into Infinity.

Noah Centineo, best known for his roles in Black Adamand the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy, is attached to star in the titular role in John Rambo, a prequel to the First Blood franchise, Deadline reports.
The film hails from Millennium Media, the studio behind Rambo: Last Blood and The Expendables. Original star Sylvester Stallone is not currently involved in the project.
The origin story will follow a young John Rambo during the Vietnam War. Jalmari Helander is set to direct from a script by writing duo Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, the pair of whom worked on Black Adam and The Mauritanian. Filming is expected to begin early next year in Thailand. Producers on the latest instalment are Kevin King-Templeton on behalf of Templeton Media, Les Weldon, Jonathan Yunger and Avi Lerner. Executive producers include Trevor Short and Bonfire Legends’ Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk.
The Rambo franchise launched in 1982 with First Blood, based on a novel by David Morrell. It was followed by Rambo: First Blood Part II, Rambo III, Rambo and lastly, 2019’s Rambo: Last Blood. All titles starred Stallone. There was also an animated series.
Max Minghella, best known for starring in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale and in the horror franchise instalment Spiral: From the Book of Saw, is in final negotiations to join the cast of DC Studios’ Clayface.
Minghella joins Tom Rhys Harries and Naomi Ackie in the body-horror thriller, which is being directed by Speak No Evil director James Watkins. It is the next DC movie to head into production, with a start date expected this autumn.
Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, Doctor Sleep, and the upcoming Life of Chuck) wrote the script for Clayface, about a Batman villain known for his ability to alter his appearance. According to THR, the story centres on a rising actor (Harries) who is disfigured by a gangster. As a last resort, the actor turns to a fringe scientist (Ackie) for help. Max Minghella will play a Gotham City police detective who is dating the scientist.
Writer Hossein Amini (best known for Drive) is also on board the project to revise the script. The Batman helmer Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris serve as producers, alongside James Gunn and Peter Safran.
The movie is set to release in cinemas on September 11th, 2026.
Lori Evans Taylor is killing it in the horror sphere, as the Final Destination: Bloodlines co-writer has been tapped to pen the next instalment in the New Line franchise.
Bloodlines, the sixth entry in the series and the first since 2011, became the most successful outing of the movie franchise, grossing over $286 million at the global box office. Taylor co-wrote the script with Guy Busick (Ready or Not), from a story by Taylor, Busick, and Jon Watts, the director of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein directed the film.
Destination franchise helmer Craig Perry and franchise veteran Sheila Hanahan Taylor are back producing, as are Watts and his wife, Dianne McGunigle, along with Toby Emmerich, THR reports. Warren Zide will executive produce.
Each Final Destination film centres on a character who has a premonition of a horrific, deadly event, which allows them to cheat their own death and save several other lives in the process. But escaping their fate is not so easy, and Death, personified as a targeted and unstoppable force, soon comes for each of the survivors.
Lori Evans Taylor also recently penned the adaptation of Carla Norton’s serial killer novel, The Edge of Normal, which stars Chloë Grace Moretz. She also adapted I Am Still Alive, with Ben Affleck attached to star and produce.
Dave Bautista is set to play the villain in Amazon MGM’s remake of the 1980s cult classic Highlander, joining Henry Cavill and Russell Crowe in the action fantasy.
The original 1986 film starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, a Medieval Scottish Highlander who discovers he is one of a group of immortals destined to fight until only one remains, claiming the “Prize”. The story flashes between MacLeod’s 16th-century Scottish origins and his present-day life in New York City. Guided by the immortal swordsman Ramirez (Sean Connery), MacLeod learns about his immortality and the impending “Gathering” where the final battle will take place.
In this remake, Cavill will play MacLeod and Crowe, Ramirez. Dave Bautista will portray the immortal barbarian The Kurgen, who has been killing other immortals in order to absorb their life force and has been MacLeod’s nemesis across the centuries. Clancy Brown memorably played the character in the original film.
Chad Stahelski is directing the feature from a script by Michael Finch, and principal photography is due to begin this autumn. Though the project does not yet have a confirmed release date, we do know it will get a theatrical release before making its way to Prime Video.

In the first trailer for Him, we are asked a seemingly simple question: What would you sacrifice to become the greatest of all time?
From Oscar winner Jordan Peele and his banner, Monkeypaw Productions (the producers behind some of our favourite horror films Get Out, Us, Candyman and Nope, comes a chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, idolatry and the pursuit of excellence at any cost.
Starring an electrifying and surprisingly dramatic performance from Marlon Wayans, Him follows Cameron Cade (played by former college wide-receiver Tyriq Withers), a rising-star quaterback who has devoted his life and identity to football. On the eve of professional football’s annual scouting Combine, Cam is attacked by an unhinged fan and suffers a potentially career-ending brain trauma.
Just when all seems lost, Cam receives a lifeline when his hero, Isaiah White (Wayans), a legendary eight-time Championship quarterback and cultural megastar, offers to train Cam at Isaiah’s isolated compound that he shares with his celebrity influencer wife, Elsie White (Julia Fox). But as Cam’s training accelerates, Isaiah’s charisma begins to curdle into something darker, sending his protégé down a disorienting rabbit hole that may cost him more than he ever bargained for.
Him is directed by Justin Tipping from a screenplay by Zack Akers & Skip Bronkie, and Tipping.
Him releases September 19th, 2025 in the US and October 3rd, 2025 in the UK. Watch the trailer below:
