As the film world rallies around Paul Dano following some mildly mean (by his standards) and completely unprovoked comments by Quentin Tarantino, it has been announced that the The Batman actor has been cast psychological thriller Bunker. The film hails from Oscar-winning filmmaker Florian Zeller.

Dano joins cast members Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Stephen Graham, and Patrick Schwarzenegger. Bunker, which is now in production, “explores the unravelling of a family as a mysterious construction project — a bunker commissioned by a powerful tech mogul — begins to infiltrate their lives.”

Zeller, who both writes and directs, promises the thriller will showcase his blend of “emotional rigor and haunting atmosphere,” adding that “We are thrilled to welcome Paul Dano to the cast. From Little Miss Sunshine to There Will Be Blood, Paul has consistently impressed me as an actor. He possesses an extraordinary singularity — something genuinely unique — and in that sense, he is truly irreplaceable.”

Florian Zeller is best known for directing and co-writing the 2020 film adaptation of his play The Father, which earned him the Academy Award and BAFTA Award for his screenplay.

Filming on Bunker is presently underway in Madrid and London, so expect more updates on the project as we hear.
