MORTAL KOMBAT II Gets Pushed Back To 2026

Mortal Kombat II, which was meant to be released in just two months on October 24th, 2025, has now been pushed back by Warner Bros. to May 15th, 2026. Simon McQuoid’s sequel movie will now be part of next year’s summer season, with hopes that the actioner will find the same success that Final Destination: Bloodlines did in a similar spot.

Based on the popular video game franchise from the 1990s, the film stars Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, alongside Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim and Hiroyuki Sanada.

Mortal Kombat II centres on a group of ragtag fighters who must defend Earth, and follows 2021’s Mortal Kombat. This time, the fan favorite champions, now joined by Johnny Cage himself, are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.

McQuoid directs the film from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater, based on the game created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. McQuoid also produces with Todd Garner, James Wan, Toby Emmerich and E. Bennett Walsh.

Though you’ll be having to wait longer than planned to see Johnny Cage in action, you can still watch the previously released trailer below:

Emma Stone Is Accused Of Being Alien In BUGONIA Trailer

Emma Stone stars in Bugonia trailer from yorgos lanthimos

Jesse Plemons thinks Emma Stone is an alien (understandable) in the trailer for Bugonia, the actress’ latest collaboration with director Yorgos Lanthimos.

Focus Features released the trailer online this week, just as the film premiered at the Venice Film Festival. The science-fiction black comedy follows two conspiracy-obsessed young men who kidnap high-powered CEO Michelle Fuller (Stone) after they become convinced that she is an alien who intends to destroy Earth.

In addition to Stone and Plemons, Bugonia also stars Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias and Alicia Silverstone.

The project is produced by Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Yorgos Lanthimos, Emma Stone, Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, Miky Lee, and Jerry Kyoungboum Ko. The screenplay is by Will Tracy. The film is said to have been inspired by the 2003 Korean sci-fi film Save The Green Planet! from director Jang Joon-hwan.

“Again, unfortunately, not much of the dystopia in this film is very fictional,” explained Lanthimos when presenting the film. “A lot of it is very reflective of the real world. If anything, this film says this is happening now… Actually, it became more relevant as time went by,” he continued, referring to the fact that he first encountered the screenplay three years ago. “Humanity is facing a reckoning very soon. People need to choose the right path, otherwise, I don’t know how much time [left] with everything that’s happening in the world, with technology, AI, with wars, climate change, the denial of all these things and how desensitised we’ve become to all of these things. [The movie] is more of a reflection of our times and hopefully it will trigger people to think about what’s happening today, all around the world.”

The film earned a six-minute standing ovation at Venice. Bugonia follows Stone’s starring role in Poor Things — also directed by Yorgos Lanthimos — in late 2023 and Kinds of Kindness last year.

Bugonia releases in cinemas from October 24th, 2025. Watch the trailer below:

KNIGHT RIDER Feature In The Works From COBRA KAI Creators

david hasselhoff in original knight rider series

The creators of Cobra Kai are in talks to bring Knight Rider, the 1980s action drama about a talking car, to the big screen. Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald are in early talks to write the screenplay, with Hurwitz and Schlossberg in early talks to direct. THR broke the news.

The trio will also produce via their Counterbalance Entertainment production company. Kelly McCormick and David Leitch are producing through their banner 87North, whilst Gary Barber and Chris Stone will produce through Spyglass.

Knight Rider, which aired from 1982 to 1986, was a cult series of the era. David Hasselhoff famously starred as Michael Knight, a detective who becomes an agent for the Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG) and is partnered with KITT, a modified, artificially intelligent and indestructible Trans Am. Together, they fought crime in their city.

Later revivals came in the form of TV movies Knight Rider 2000 and Knight Rider 2010 (released in 1991 and 1994, respectively), a 2008 Knight Rider movie, and the syndicated Team Knight Rider series in 1997.

A feature reboot has been in development for some time, with a previous version of the project landing a script by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider. No word yet on what shape this new script might take.

Karen Gillan Joins HIGHLANDER Remake

karen gillan in the life of chuck

Karen Gillan is the latest big name to join the cast of Amazon MGM’s remake of the 1980s cult classic, Highlander. The Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Who actress will star opposite Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, and Marisa Abela.

The original 1986 film starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, a Medieval Scottish Highlander who discovers he is one of a group of immortals destined to fight until only one remains, claiming the “Prize”. The story flashes between MacLeod’s 16th-century Scottish origins and his present-day life in New York City. Guided by the immortal swordsman Ramirez (Sean Connery), MacLeod learns about his immortality and the impending “Gathering” where the final battle will take place.

In this remake, Cavill will play MacLeod and Crowe, Ramirez. Dave Bautista will portray the immortal barbarian The Kurgen, who has been killing other immortals in order to absorb their life force and has been MacLeod’s nemesis across the centuries. Gillan will play Heather, MacLeod’s mortal wife and the love of his life.

Chad Stahelski is directing the feature from a script by Michael Finch, and principal photography is due to begin this autumn. Though the project does not yet have a confirmed release date, we do know it will get a theatrical release before making its way to Prime Video.

Karen Gillan can currently be seen in The Life of Chuck, the Neon film based on the novella by Stephen King.

Meet Indy, Aka GOOD BOY In New Haunted House Trailer

Indy the dog in Good Boy film trailer

A haunted house horror film seen entirely through the eyes of man’s best friend? Meet Indy the dog, the titular Good Boy in the upcoming pic from first-time feature director Ben Leonberg, from a script he co-wrote with Alex Cannon.

In the film, “Our canine hero, Indy, finds himself on a new adventure with his human owner—and best friend—Todd, leaving city life for a long-vacant family home in the country. From the start, two things are abundantly clear: Indy is wary of the creepy old house, and his affection for Todd is unwavering.

“After moving in, Indy is immediately vexed by empty corners, tracks an invisible presence only he can see, perceives phantasmagoric warnings from a long-dead dog, and is haunted by visions of the previous occupant’s grim death. When Todd begins succumbing to the dark forces swirling around the house, Indy must battle a malevolence intent on dragging his beloved Todd into the afterlife.”

Good Boy stars Indy, director Leonberg’s real-life pup, as well as indie horror vets (pun intended) Larry Fessenden, Shane Jensen, and Arielle Friedman.

The film premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival to positive reviews.

Good Boy heads to cinemas on October 3rd, 2025. Watch the trailer below:

Diane Lane And Phoebe Dynevor Star In ANNIVERSARY Trailer

phoebe dynevor in anniversary trailer

Diane Lane isn’t a fan of her son’s new girlfriend in the first trailer for Lionsgate’s Anniversary. Directed by Jan Komasa, the thriller also stars Kyle Chandler, Dylan O’Brien, Phoebe Dynevor, Madeline Brewer, Zoey Deutch, Mckenna Grace and Daryl McCormack.

In Anniversary, a close-knit family is caught in the turmoil of a controversial rising movement known as “The Change.” Ellen and Paul (Lane and Chandler) witness their lives fall apart when Ellen’s former student Liz (Dynevor) reappears and starts dating their son (O’Brien). As Liz becomes a part of the Taylor family, tensions rise and loyalties are tested. Liz’s role in “The Change” brings simmering conflicts to the surface, unravelling the fabric of the family just as the nation itself stands on edge during an alarming and challenging time of uncertainty. Now why does that sound familiar?

“Our son’s new girlfriend is a former student,” Lane says in the trailer. “She’s radical in her ideology… I don’t think it’s a coincidence that she’s attached herself to Josh.”

Komasa helms the film from a script by Lori Rosene-Gambino, itself from a story by Komasa and Rosene-Gambino. Serving as producers are Nick Wechsler, Steve Schwartz, Paula Mae Schwartz and Kate Churchill.

Anniversary will be released in cinemas on October 29th, 2025. Watch the trailer below:
