Star Wars: Starfighter began filming in the UK this week, and Lucasfilm took the opportunity to unveil the full cast for their upcoming feature, chief among them being six-time Academy Award nominee Amy Adams. She is joined by Aaron Pierre, Flynn Gray, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, and Daniel Ings. Starfighter is being directed by Shawn Levy and stars Ryan Gosling, Mia Goth, and Matt Smith.
Star Wars: Starfighter is a standalone story set approximately five years after the last big-screen instalment, The Rise of Skywalker.
“I feel a profound sense of excitement and honor as we begin production on Star Wars: Starfighter,” said Levy in a statement. “From the day Kathy Kennedy called me up, inviting me to develop an original adventure in this incredible Star Wars galaxy, this experience has been a dream come true, creatively and personally. Star Wars shaped my sense of what story can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with us forever. To join this storytelling galaxy with such brilliant collaborators onscreen and off, is the thrill of a lifetime.”
Star Wars: Starfighter is scheduled to release in cinemas on May 28th, 2027. Elsewhere in the universe, The Mandalorian and Grogu will be the next Star Wars feature to hit the big screen, and will be released on May 22nd, 2026.
Amy Adams recently starred in the horror-comedy Nightbitch and in the fairytale sequel, Disenchanted.
