See Nicole Kidman And Javier Bardem In I LOVE LUCY Biopic, BEING THE RICARDOS

Aaron Sorkin directed Being The Ricardos starring Javier Bardem and Nicole Kidman

After two successful ‘based on a true story’ directorial efforts – with Molly’s Game and more recently, The Trial Of The Chicago 7 – Aaron Sorkin is back writing and directing with his Being The Ricardos biopic, which sees Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem playing television’s most iconic husband-and-wife team, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.

The couple were the stars behind the 1950s television sitcom I Love Lucy, which followed an accident-prone housewife and her sensible, Cuban-American husband. Being The Ricardos is set during a single production week of the sitcom, spanning from Monday’s table read through to audience filming on Friday, when Lucy and Desi face a crisis that could end their careers – and another that could end their marriage.

The lead duo are joined by a star-studded supporting cast that includes J.K. Simmons as William Frawley, the actor who played the landlord Fred Mertz; Nina Arianda as Vivian Vance, who played Fred’s wife Ethel Mertz; Tony Hale as Jess Oppenheimer, producer and head writer of I Love Lucy; Alia Shawkat as Madelyn Pugh and Jake Lacy as Bob Carroll Jr., who were writers on the show and long-term professional partners; and Clark Gregg in an as-yet undisclosed role.

I Love Lucy was a beloved series that ran for six seasons between 1951 and 1957, spanning 180 half-hour episodes. It became the most-watched show in the United States in four of its seasons, and remains popular with an American audience of 40 million each year – almost 65 years after it went off-air. I Love Lucy also broke new ground in a number of ways: it was the first show to end its run while still at the top of the Nielsen ratings (which measures audience sizes), was the first scripted TV program to be shot in front of a student audience on 35mm film, rather than broadcast live, the first to be broadcast as reruns, and the first show to feature an ensemble cast. Ball and Arnaz also became the television industry’s first millionaires.

And, winning five Emmy Awards and a number of other nominations and accolades, it’s no surprise that I Love Lucy is still regarded as one of the greatest and most influential sitcoms in history.

Being The Ricardos will received a limited cinema release on December 10th, before dropping on Amazon Prime on the 21st December. Check out the teaser below:

Danny DeVito Is Latest Addition To HAUNTED MANSION Remake

Danny DeVito in white wig as Frank Reynolds in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Veteran actor Danny DeVito has joined the cast of Haunted Mansion, according to a Hollywood Reporter exclusive. The Disney adventure film is based on the company’s signature theme ride, and also counts LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson and Rosario Dawson among its cast.

Helmed by Dear White People’s Justin Simien, Haunted Mansion began production last week in Atlanta and, although plot details are still being kept under lock and key (and buried six feet under), DeVito has reportedly signed on to play a “smug professor” – no word on whether said professor belongs to the land of the living, or the dead.

Danny DeVito is cast in Disney's Haunted Mansion

The film is Disney’s second attempt at adapting their famous attraction to film, after an unsuccessful outing in 2003 that starred Eddie Murphy, Nathaniel Parker, and Jennifer Tilly. The film flopped with audiences and critics alike, while another Disney ride-to-film adaptation released the same year (you may have heard of Pirates of the Caribbean?) proved a real cash cow for the studio. The recent success of Jungle Cruise may bode well for another attempt at Haunted Mansion, while the House of Mouse also produced a well-received Mansion-related special, Muppets Haunted Mansion, just in time for the Halloween season.

DeVito, whose most recent blockbuster outing was Jumanji: The Next Levelis also due to begin production this winter on Triplets, a sequel to the 1988 comedy hit Twins. Reteaming with Ivan Reitman and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the trio will also be joined by Tracy Morgan.

Disney has yet to announce a release date for Haunted Mansion.

See The COWBOY BEBOP Crew In Action In New Teaser!

Just one more month until Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop series premieres! In anticipation, the streamer has dropped a short teaser that sees stars John Cho (sporting the most incredible head of hair), Mustafa Shakir and Daniella Pineda in their respective roles as Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, and Faye Valentine.

Based on Shinichirō Watanabe’s 1998 cult anime series, Cowboy Bebop follows a ragtag group of bounty hunters, as they hunt down the galaxy’s most dangerous criminals.

Cowboy Bebop Netflix reboot series starring John Cho, Mustafa Shakir and Danielle Pineda

Spike is a bounty hunter born on Mars with a history of violent gang activities with the Red Dragon Syndicate. He is joined by Jet, an ex-cop and jack-of-all-trades with a cybernetic arm, who is also captain of the Bebop. Faye, meanwhile, is an amnesiac con artist with significant gambling debt who spent 54 years in suspended animation after a space shuttle accident. Alex Hassell also plays Vicious, Spike’s sworn enemy, who is seen briefly in Netflix’s teaser.

The delightful, action-packed teaser sees the team kicking ass and hopping through comic panels to different locations, chasing bounties throughout the solar system. Complete with a campy, ’70s vibe that seems pulled from the original animation, and Exploitation-type cheesiness, this is bound to get old and new fans alike excited for this reboot.

Cowboy Bebop is set to debut on Netflix November 19th. The series will consist of ten hour-long episodes. Check out the teaser below:

MERLIN To Be Helmed By LOVE AND MONSTERS’ Michael Matthews

Merlin the wizard in Disney cartoon The Sword in the Stone

Michael Matthews, director of the delightful and critically-acclaimed post-apocalyptic adventure film Love & Monsters, has been tapped to direct Disney’s Merlin, so writes Deadline. An adaptation of T. A. Barron’s novel series about Camelot’s resident wizard, Ridley Scott was originally on board to helm the project (previously titled The Merlin Saga). He and the studio had to part ways because of the filmmaker’s overloaded schedule, which included his just-released medieval pic The Last Duel and the upcoming Lady Gaga-starrer, House of Gucci.

Matthews will be directing from the film’s latest draft by Chris Weitz (Guillermo del Toro’s PinocchioRogue One, Cinderella), with Gil Netter (Life of Pi) producing. The 12-book series on which the film will be based tell the origin story of a young Merlin, on his journey to becoming King Arthur’s trusted adviser and mentor. The live-action project is still in early development so little is yet known about a potential synopsis, casting, or eventual release date – but stay tuned!

Meanwhile, we’ll just be in our bedroom, making no noise and pretending the BBC never cancelled Merlin. Colin Morgan, you are the once and future wizard of our hearts.

MCU Titles And INDIANA JONES 5 Pushed Back In Massive Reshuffle

Though it looked like things were settling for cinema releases of late – with the likes of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, No Time To Dieand Dune finally making it to screens – Disney has just announced a long list of delays in its upcoming release schedule, pushing back a number of Marvel films, as well as Indiana Jones 5.

Marvel Studios and Disney push back 2022 MCU films

All four MCU films due next year have received new dates: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has moved from March to May 6th 2022, Thor: Love and Thunder has been pushed back from June to August 7th, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has shifted from a July 2022 release to November 11th, and The Marvels will no longer be releasing in November of next year, but rather February 17th, 2023. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is therefore scheduled for July 28th, 2023, and a number of untitled MCU movies have also received new dates.

The most dramatic move, however, is in the case of Harrison Ford’s fifth Indiana Jones film, which was expected to hit cinemas in July 2022. Now, fans of the whip-wielding archeology professor will have to wait an extra year for his next outing, scheduled for June 30th, 2023.

Indiana Jones 5 starring Harrison Ford pushed back to 2023 release date

According to Variety however, the studio’s decision has nothing to do with the ongoing pandemic and its anticipated effects on the box office. Rather, reshuffle is due to production delays. After all, a production behind schedule can have a domino-effect on a studio’s releases, particularly when it comes to a franchise as interconnected as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As for Indy, the later release can probably be chalked up to Ford’s on-set shoulder injury earlier this year, which forced him to take time off from filming while he recovered. He has since returned to set.

Until then though, Marvel fans still have The Eternals to look forward to on November 5th, as well as Spider-Man: No Way Home scheduled for December 17th.

DC FanDome is streaming on its official website and across its social media platforms.

As well as the trailer for The Batman, which stars Robert Pattinson as the titular anti-hero, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Paul Dano as Riddler, Colin Farrell as Penguin and Andy Serkis as Alfred, DC fans can also expect movie clips from DC League of Super-Petssome behind the scenes footage of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom starring Jason Momoa, and of Shazam! Fury of the Godsand a first-look at Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam

We’ve already seen Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale and Ben Affleck don the cape. This time, it’s Pattinson’s turn to prowl Gotham City: see him as the Caped Crusader in the brand-new trailer, below.

The Batman is scheduled for release March 4th, 2022.

A First Look At Dwayne Johnson’s BLACK ADAM

Black Adam first look at DC FanDome 2021

Fans have just received their first (proper) look at Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Black Adam, courtesy of DC FanDome.

The former WWE star-turned-actor has long been attached to play the famous anti-hero, and production on the film finally wrapped in July, earlier this year. Though the character was supposed to debut in David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! – whose sequel also features in the DC event – Warner Bros. opted instead to debut him in his very own, standalone film. Johnson’s character was still briefly mentioned by the wizard Shazam (Djimon Hounsou) who, when talking to the young Billy Batson (Asher Angel), explains that he once chose a champion who ended up unleashing the Seven Deadly Sins on Earth and erased entire civilisations as a result. That champion was Black Adam.

Depicted over the years as both a straight-up supervillain and an antihero, Black Adam is one of the very few characters who can go toe-to-toe with DC’s unofficial main man, Superman. Despite having gone up against the Man of Steel and a number of other DC superheroes though, Black Adam is best known as a Shazam villain.

As well as the titular hero, Black Adam will serve to introduce the Justice Society of America, including its members Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan, who promises this film is bigger than even James Bond), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo).

This latest introduction into the DCEU comes from The Shallows director Jaume Collet-Serra, and is set to release in July 2022. Watch below for one of the opening scenes of Black Adam, which doubles as the character’s very first appearance (and a good showcase of some of his powers):

Matt Reeves Releases THE BATMAN Image Ahead Of DC FanDome

The Batman

Ahead of this year’s virtual DC FanDomeThe Batman director Matt Reeves took to Twitter to share a new shot from his as-yet-unreleased trailer. In the stunningly coloured image, the camera stands behind Robert Pattinson’s Batman to look over a darkening Gotham City.

Pattinson is joined by an incredible cast, including Paul Dano as Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as Penguin, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone.

DC released its first official trailer in August last year, which gave fans their first looks at The Batman’s main cast and revealed more of the film’s general look and feel. Following Reeves’ lead though, the film’s Twitter account also shared a short video teasing that a new trailer would be released as part of the FanDome celebrations on October 16th. In the clip, which shows the Bat-Signal in red, Pattinson’s Caped Crusader can be heard growling: “It’s not just a signal. It’s a warning.”

The Batman is scheduled for release March 4th, 2022. Ahead of the highly anticipated, brand-new trailer dropping, check out Reeves’ latest shot below.

4400 Series Reboot Adds Three To Its Recurring Cast

The CW reboot of 4400 has added three actors to its series’ call sheet: Kausar Mohammed (Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous), Wilder Yari (The L Word: Generation Q) and Theo Germaine (The Politician).

The show is a reimagining of the 2004 sci-fi drama series, which ran for four seasons and starred Joel Gretsch (Taken, V), Jacqueline McKenzie (Malignant), Mahershala Ali (the upcoming BladeThe Hunger Games, Luke Cage) and more. The 4400 was critically acclaimed and positively received by general audiences, before being cancelled in late 2007 due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, budgetary problems, and lower-than-anticipated ratings.

4400 science fiction show at the CW network - series still

In 4400, over the last century, at least four-thousand four-hundred people who were overlooked, undervalued, or otherwise marginalized vanished without a trace. Until one night, inexplicably, they are all returned to present-day Detroit having not aged a day and with no memory of what happened to them. As the government races to understand the phenomenon, anticipate any potential threat, and keep the story from the swarming medias, Jharrel (Joseph David-Jones), an empathetic social worker, and Keisha (Ireon Roach), a hardened community corrections officer, are among the civil servants called upon to deal with the returned.

Mohammed will reportedly play Soraya, a friend of Jharrel’s who works in IT and is one of the people called in to help process the thousands of people who have suddenly descended on the city. Meanwhile, Yari stars as Jessica, an agent with the Department of Homeland Security who is called in to unravel the bizarre case of returning missing persons. Germaine is Noah, one of the 4400 in question who has been taken from the very recent past.

The rebooted show also stars Autumn Best as Mildred, AMARR as Hayden, Brittany Adebumola as Shanice, TL Thompson as Andre, Jaye Ladymore as Claudette, Derrick A. King as Rev. Johnston, Khailah Johnson as Ladonna, and Cory Jeacoma as Logan.

4400 will premiere on October 25th, 2021. Check out this featurette below:
