Tom Holland Is Back In SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Trailer

tom holland as peter parker in the trailer for mcu's spider-man: brand new day

Much later than most fans likely anticipated (considering we’ve had multiple Doomsday teasers already), the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has just been released. It’s been a long wait to see Tom Holland return as the neighbourhood web-slinger, but he’s finally back!

In the trailer, we see the superhero enlist help from Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, as Peter Parker attempts to piece his life back together in a world that has forgotten his existence after the events of No Way Home. The young Avenger also endures mysterious physical challenges caused by his hitting a crux point in the “spider life cycle”, as explained in voiceover.

Per the official synopsis: “Following Dr. Stephen Strange’s spell at the end of the film Spider-Man: No Way Home, the world has forgotten that Peter Parker exists. Four years later, Parker anonymously protects New York City as the hero Spider-Man. While investigating a series of crimes, he uncovers a larger mystery and faces the consequences of his past.”

Zendaya reprises her role as MJ, though it’s unclear how much screen time the busy actress will have compared to the previous films. The film also stars Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colon-Zayas, and Michael Mando.

Brand New Day is Holland’s final contracted stand-alone Spider-Man film and serves as a prequel to the MCU’s next huge crossover event, Avengers: Doomsday. The film is directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings helmer Destin Daniel Cretton.

KPOP DEMON HUNTERS Sequel Confirmed

rumi mira and zoey will return in kpop demon hunters sequel film

Oscar award-winning animated film Kpop Demon Hunters will be receiving a sequel, as Netflix closed deals for directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans to return for a follow-up film as part of a multi-year writing and directing agreement.

Sony Pictures Animation is behind both the sequel and original animated film, which became the most-viewed original movie in Netflix history. It told the story of K-pop group Huntrix, whose music is secretly the key to preventing demons from invading the mortal world.

No date has been set for a sequel. Kang and Appelhans are said to be in the early stages of development on the project.

“I feel immense pride as a Korean filmmaker that the audience wants more from this Korean story and our Korean characters. There’s so much more to this world we have built and I’m excited to show you. This is only the beginning,” Kang said in a statement. Added Appelhans: “These characters are like family to us, their world has become our second home. We’re excited to write their next chapter, challenge them and watch them evolve — and continue pushing the boundaries of how music, animation and story can come together.”

Just last weekend, Kpop Demon Hunters received the Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“Golden”), the same categories the film also won at the Golden Globes.

Kate Winslet Boards LORD OF THE RINGS: THE HUNT FOR GOLLUM

Kate Winslet has left Pandora for Middle Earth, stepping from the Avatar universe into Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. Details of Winslet’s role haven’t been disclosed. Andy Serkis is directing the film and reprising his role as Gollum, the character who first appeared in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy and returned for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

The Hunt for Gollum takes place between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies, and is expected to follow Aragorn and Gandalf as they search for Gollum in hopes of learning more about Bilbo’s ring and preventing him from revealing the ring’s location to Sauron. The film has been scripted by Philippa Boyens, Fran Walsh, Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou. Jackson is producing two Gollum films alongside franchise veterans Walsh and Boyens. Zane Weiner is also producing.

Ian McKellen is returning as Gandalf, while Elijah Wood has hinted he’d return as Frodo Baggins. No word yet on whether Viggo Mortensen will reprise his role as Aragorn, or whether the role might be recast.

Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is set to be released on December 17th, 2027, courtesy of Warner Bros.’ New Line.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Christopher McQuarrie Teaming For KING CONAN

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Christopher McQuarrie are reteaming for a third entry into the Conan the Barbarian franchise, titled King Conan. McQuarrie, who has been hard at work helming the four latest Mission: Impossible films, is due to write and direct the swords-and-sorcery feature for 20th Century Studios.

Schwarzenegger would naturally reprise his titular role, which he debuted in 1982 with Conan the Barbarian, followed by a 1984 sequel titled Conan the Destroyer. Based on Robert E. Howard’s character, the first film tells the story of a barbarian named Conan (surprising, we’re sure) who seeks to avenge his parents’ deaths at the hands of Thulsa Doom (James Earl Jones), the leader of a snake cult.

Schwarzenegger announced McQuarrie’s involvement in the project at the Arnold Sports Festival. In teasing King Conan, Schwarzenegger stated, “It’s a great story where Conan was 40 years king, and he gets complacent, and now he gets forced out of the kingdom, slowly. Then there’s conflict, of course, and then he somehow comes back, and then there’s all kinds of madness and violence and magic and creatures. Now, of course, you have all the special effects, and the studio system has plenty of money to make those movies really big.”

Callie Cooke, who played the harried pit stop tire gunner in Brad Pitt’s Oscar-nominated F1, has landed the lead role opposite Keanu Reeves in Warner Bros.’ untitled action movie, which is being directed by Tim Miller.

Ian Shorr wrote the script, which has been described as having shades of Edge of Tomorrow, the Tom Cruise sci-fi about a soldier trapped in a time loop during an alien invasion, and The Shallows, the Blake Lively shark survival movie.

The story sees a smuggler (Reeves) trapped in a time loop after a deadly double-cross while on a job in the Caribbean Sea. Cooke plays the role of a scientist. Little else is known about the characters.

Deadbolt Films Begins Production on BAITED

British independent production company Deadbolt Films has begun principal photography on Baited, a psychological cosmic horror feature that blends found-footage realism with the unsettling world of internet vigilante culture.

Directed by Gav Chuckie Steel (Preternatural) and produced by Jonathan Payne, Baited follows four online vigilantes who run a channel dedicated to exposing suspected predators. Their confrontational investigations have earned them a growing audience and a reputation for pushing the limits of digital justice.

When their latest target leads them to a quiet suburban house, the group enters expecting another sting operation. Instead, they find themselves trapped in a shifting, nightmarish liminal space where the house itself seems to distort and change around them. As paranoia rises and tensions fracture the group, they begin to realise they may no longer be the hunters.

Written by Thomas J. Campbell and Joe Butler, with cinematography by Benjamin Hamill, Baited is designed as a raw, immersive horror experience that draws viewers directly into the story. The film stars Isabel Salazar, Byron Collins, Benjamin Hamill, and Cora Jaine.

Using a multi-camera approach that incorporates handheld cameras, body cams, and surveillance footage, Baited promises to create a claustrophobic found-footage experience in which reality fractures and the characters’ guilt and paranoia manifest in terrifying ways.

To support the film’s production, Deadbolt Films is currently seeking additional investors and will soon launch a crowdfunding campaign inviting horror fans to become part of the project. Watch this space!

Lee Isaac Chung Exits OCEAN’S ELEVEN Prequel

lee isaac chung exits ocean's eleven prequel

Director Lee Isaac Chung has left Warner Bros.’ planned Ocean’s Eleven prequel film. Chung had been developing the project with the studio and Margot Robbie, who is attached to star with Bradley Cooper and produce through her LuckyChap banner. Chung reportedly exited the project amid creative differences.

A joint statement from Warner Bros. and LuckyChap read, “Lee Isaac is a singular filmmaking talent whose vision and partnership have been invaluable to Warner Bros. and LuckyChap throughout this journey. Our experience with him has only deepened our enthusiasm to collaborate on future projects together.”

Jay Roach was initially attached to direct in 2022, before he later exited. The script hails from Carrie Solomon.

Warner Bros.’ heist movie franchise launched in 2001 with Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Eleven, which remade the studio’s 1960 heist movie Ocean’s 11 (starring Frank Sinatra and other Rat Pack members). George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and Matt Damon were among the stars of the 2001 film trilogy that concluded with 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen. In 2018, Warner Bros. also released Ocean’s Eight, a spinoff that starred Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, and Anne Hathaway.

Chung is best known for helming the Oscar-nominated Minari in 2020 and for 2024’s sequel Twisters.

Wizards Reveal New Dungeons And Dragons Releases

Wizards of the Coast, those stylish sorcerers responsible for the game Dungeons and Dragons, have announced a ‘roadmap’ of new D&D releases.

2025 saw the game complete its rules refresh as a new edition of the rules and related support products arrived. 2026 will see three ‘seasons’ of releases. This isn’t original or unusual, but it does imply that going forward, new book dates will be less chaotic.

The themes are: Horror for the Spring, Magic for the Summer and Champions for Autumn.

Horror will bring a new Ravenloft sourcebook called Ravenloft: The Horrors Within. A new 54-card Tarokka Deck will also be available. (Basically a spooky deck of cards themed to tell horror stories rather than divine the future.) Rounding off the releases will be a Ravenloft map back and a Dungeon Master’s screen.

The magic season will bring Arcana Unleased, a sourcebook for magic. Presumably, this will round out the additional schools of magic that weren’t in the recent edition of the rules (and most DMs have just been using the old rules for them).) Plus new spells and a new magic item creation system. Also expect to see Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall, an adventure book featuring the Red Wizards of Thay. (Who were also the baddies in the recent D&D movie, so they’re super cool right now.)

Nothing else has been released about the Champions season except its name. It would be reasonable to assume it’s themed along levelling up characters to higher levels, but who can say? We’ll let you know when we do.
