The official trailer for Prime Video’s Spider-Man-based series features Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir facing off against Brendan Gleeson’s super villain.

Cage play Ben Reilly, an ageing and down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York City, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero, the Spider. In the new trailer, Reilly is forced to become the Spider once again to face off against a powerful Irish crime boss (Gleeson), known as Silvermane in the comics.

The project is a stand-alone story and not part of the Sony movies, nor the Into the Spider-Verse franchise, in which Cage voiced the same character.

The full cast includes Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, Karen Rodriguez as Janet, Abraham Popoola as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone, and Jack Huston as Flint Marko/Sandman. Fleabag’s Harry Bradbeer directed and executive produced the first two episodes. Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher) serve as co-showrunners and exec producers. The series was developed alongside Into the Spider-Verse‘s Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal.

Spider-Noir will premiere on May 27th, with all episodes dropped at once. Watch the trailer below, in delicious black and white, the way it should be enjoyed:
