Trailer Released For Paranormal Show LIVING FOR THE DEAD

bts till of kristen stewart-produced hulu series living for the dead

Hulu has debuted the trailer for their new, paranormal reality series Living for the Dead, ahead of the show’s premiere on October 18th as part of their Huluween event. The show has been described as “the most gayest, most funnest, most titillating queer ghost-hunting show ever” by its executive producer Kristen Stewart.

The Personal Shopper and Twilight actress writes that “It’s so cool and enlivening that me and my best friend CJ Romero had this funny idea and now it’s a show. It started as a bit of a hypothetical silly pipe dream and now I am so proud to have shepherded something that is as moving and meaningful as it is truly a gay old time. Our cast makes me laugh and cry and they had the courage and heart to take us places I wouldn’t go by myself. And it’s a super cool maiden voyage for the company I’ve started with my partners Dylan Meyer and Maggie McLean. This is just the beginning for us and for ‘Living for the Dead.’ We wanna one day have traipsed across the entire spooky ass country. Maybe the world!”

In Living for the Dead, five fabulous, queer ghost hunters roam the country, helping the living by healing the dead. Our gay “Ghost Hunties” explore infamous haunted locations while pushing past boundaries with both the living and the deceased. The ghost-hunting team includes Alex Le May, Juju Bae, Ken Boggle, Logan Taylor, and Roz Hernandez.

The trailer for the highly anticipated sci-fi romance feature Fingernails has finally released, courtesy of Apple Original Films. The second feature from director-writer Christos Nikou, known for his acclaimed debut Apples, stars Jessie Buckley, Riz Ahmed, Jeremy Allen White and Luke Wilson.

In Fingernails, Anna (Buckley) and Ryan (White) have found true love. It’s been proven by a controversial new technology to determine ultimate compatibility in romantic relationships. There’s just one problem: Anna still isn’t sure. When she then takes a position at a love testing institute, she further questions her connection with her supposed soulmate as she gets to know her co-worker Amir (Ahmed).

“I founded this institute to take the risk out of love,” says Duncan (Wilson), company founder and Anna’s employer, in the trailer. “No more uncertainty, no more wondering if you’ve chosen the right partner, no more divorce.”

“Fingernails” is co-written by Nikou, Stavros Raptis and Sam Steiner, and is produced by Nikou, Cate Blanchett, Andrew Upton, Coco Francini, and Lucas Wiesendanger.

Fingernails premiered at Telluride Film Festival to positive reviews, and soon receives a limited theatrical release from October 27th before making its streaming debut on Apple TV+ on November 3rd.

RICK AND MORTY Sound Strange In Season 7 Trailer

rick and morty season 7 trailer releases

Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty has released the official season 7 trailer ahead of its premiere on October 15th, only it sounds a little different! This seventh season of the cult television series will be the first without the involvement of co-creator and star Justin Roiland, after Warner Bros. fired him him following domestic abuse allegations. The charges were later dismissed by the Orange County District Attorney’s office due to insufficient evidence.

A replacement for Roiland – who voiced both Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith, alongside a host of other characters – has yet to be announced, despite the voice being heard in the trailer. Online sleuths, do your worst!

The hit adult animated series follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe,

A Warner Bros. Discovery press release teases the voice recast and hints at what fans might expect from this upcoming season: “Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever! It’s season seven, and the possibilities are endless: what’s up with Jerry? EVIL Summer?! And will they ever go back to the high school?! Maybe not! But let’s find out! There’s probably less piss than last season. “Rick and Morty,” 100 years! Or at least until season 10!”

Possession Horror WHEN EVIL LURKS Releases Trailer

when evil lurks film poster

After a successfully scary release of the Buenos Aires-set horror Terrified in 2017, Argentinian filmmaker Demián Rugna returns with a possession horror feature, When Evil Lurks (Cuando acecha la maldad). A new poster and official trailer have been released for the film, which sees an evil force affecting a town and spreading shocking violence.

In When Evil Lurks, a pair of brothers find a mutilated corpse near their property and convene with their neighbours to figure out its origins. They soon learn that the odd happenings in their village are caused by demon-infected man who is just about to give birth to evil itself. They decide to get rid of the man, but merely succeed in helping him to deliver the inferno. Ezequiel Rodriguez, Demián Salomon, Luis Ziembrowski, Silvia Sabater and Marcelo Michinaux star in a film directed and written by Rugna.

What’s more, Deadline previously reported that “AMC Studios is currently looking to further expand the world of the film with a project for the small screen.” Nothing is set in stone, so we’ll have to wait and see what comes of that.

When Evil Lurks releases in cinemas on October 6th, courtesy of Shudder and IFC Films, before premiering on Shudder on October 27th – just in time for Halloween! Watch the trailer and check out the poster below:

robbie amell and andy allo in upload season 3 trailer

Prime Video has released the official trailer for the upcoming Upload season 3, featuring returning stars Robbie Amell and Andy Allo. The sci-fi comedy series is created by The Office and Parks and Recreation‘s Emmy-winning writer Greg Daniels, and is set in a technologically advanced future where holographic phones, self-driving cars, AI assistants and food printers are the norm. Death has also been banished for this futurist utopia, as humans are uploaded to a virtual reality afterlife and enjoy the comforts of a world-class resort. The catch is, it’s not cheap.

Per the synopsis: “In Upload Season Three, we pick back up with Nora (Allo) and freshly downloaded Nathan (Amell) as they navigate their relationship, while racing to stop the mysterious conspiracy that threatens to destroy millions of lives. Can they shut down Freeyond, and finally have a real life together? Or is it just a matter of time until Nathan’s head explodes? Meanwhile, in Lakeview, a backup copy of Nathan has been activated and Ingrid’s not about to let this second chance at love slip away. Back in the real world, Aleesha rises through the ranks of Horizen by managing AI education, and falls into a new romantic relationship. And Luke, all alone in Lakeview, is forced to come up with the funds to pay for his stay in paradise, driving him to work in The Grey Zone.”

SUPERWORLD Animation Feature In The Works At Paramount

superworld save noah to be adapted by paramount animation

An animated film adaptation of the book series Superworld is in the works at Paramount Animation and Temple Hill, Deadline breaks. The series is set in an alternate universe where everybody has superpowers, but a supervillain has taken over. The one kid who lacks any special abilities is the only person who can steal the Super Stone that allows the villain to maintain control – and to do that, Noah must pull off a dangerous heist while rallying his powered hero friends in a war against the bad guys.

The book series was created and illustrated by Yarrow and Carrie Cheney, while the animation project will be overseen by Brad Butler.

It’s no surprise that Paramount is seeking more original projects, given how its animation slate (under various labels) has thrived in recent years. For instance, there was the recent success of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie coming up on September 29th. Further down the line, there’s Transformers One opening July 19th, 2024, an untitled Smurfs film on Valentine’s Day, 2025, and The SpongeBob Movie: The Search for the SquarePants planned to release May 23rd, 2025.

Superworld does not yet have a writer, director, cast, or release date, so stay tuned for more information on the animation project!

Planescape Returns Classic Adventures and Characters to D&D

Wizards of the Coast’s forthcoming adventure and setting book, Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse, promises to send players and dungeon masters back to the trans-planar city of Sigil, the ever-changing magical metropolis that is a gateway to every and everything all at once. The set goes onto the shelves of all good gaming stores from October 17th, just in time for Halloween.

The setting is perhaps best known for its spin-off video game, Planescape: Torment, and this is still regarded as one of the cornerstones of fantasy RPG videogame design to this day, thanks to its solid writing. The new book, Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse, is, in fact, three, all in a fancy slip-case. Fans of Torment will be delighted to learn that not only does the sarcastic floating skull Morte appear in the new book, but the adventure Turn of Fortune’s Wheel sees adventurers waking up in a mortuary, much like in Planescape. Unsure how they ended up there, the party must not only investigate their own past but also deal with alternate versions of themselves.

This sounds like the sort of thing D&D players have been waiting for.

The original Planescape came out in 1994 for the game’s 2nd Edition and expanded greatly on an older D&D concept: planar travel. In Dungeons & Dragons, players can not just visit other worlds but places made out of fire, ice, shadow, lands built of dreams or even forgotten memories or the laughter of long-dead gods. Much of D&D’s reality is based on the conflict between chaos, order, evil and good, and these all manifest in physical places, from the clockwork order of Mechanus to the terminal excitement of Pandemonium.

The set will include Sigil and The Outlands; The book will detail the various types of characters players can add to their game, as well as the strange city of Sigil (pronounced with a hard G) and its immortal ruler, the Lady of Pain, who’s name is only ever said with great reluctance. The various political factions that vie for power have been updated and revised, with new groups, such as the Hand of Havoc, taking prominence, as well as familiar groups, such as the extravagant Society of Sensation, still keeping power.

It wouldn’t be D&D without weird beasties, and the setting includes a book full of strange things (Morte’s Planar Parade), including horse-faced Equinals, planar incarnates, and time dragons.

Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse builds on brilliant stories such as the Modron March and Dead Gods to create a new experience for old and new D&D players alike. Planescape is a well-established, beloved setting, and we’re really looking forward to this one. Also included is a map of both Sigil and The Outlands, in case you ever get lost, and a DM’s screen for hiding all your secrets.

Crammed with iconic art from many D&D artists, including Tony DiTerlizzi, whose work has given Planescape its unique look over the years, this is one we’re very excited about.

Marc Webb Directing Bermuda Triangle Thriller

bermuda triangle from documentary on history channel - bermuda to be directed by marc webb

Marc Webb, the filmmaker behind such blockbusters as The Amazing Spider-Man duology, is set to direct the upcoming Bermuda Triangle adventure thriller from Skydance.

Bermuda has not been without obstacles: another Spider-Man director, Sam Raimi, was at one point attached, followed by Sinister’s Scott Derrickson, who boarded in 2020 after exiting the Doctor Strange sequel. Chris Evans was even attached to that latter iteration.

Very little is known about the project, and a writer has yet to be attached, but we do know that it will be set in the mysterious patch of the Caribbean ocean where planes and ships have mysteriously continued to go missing over the years. Marc Webb is expected to consult on the script once it’s written, but will not be co-writing the screenplay, writes Deadline.

Best known for his breakout comedy (500) Days of Summer, Webb recently directed Disney’s live-action adaptation of Snow White starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot. He also directed an episode of the Disney+ series Just Beyond.
