An animated film adaptation of the book series Superworld is in the works at Paramount Animation and Temple Hill, Deadline breaks. The series is set in an alternate universe where everybody has superpowers, but a supervillain has taken over. The one kid who lacks any special abilities is the only person who can steal the Super Stone that allows the villain to maintain control – and to do that, Noah must pull off a dangerous heist while rallying his powered hero friends in a war against the bad guys.

The book series was created and illustrated by Yarrow and Carrie Cheney, while the animation project will be overseen by Brad Butler.

It’s no surprise that Paramount is seeking more original projects, given how its animation slate (under various labels) has thrived in recent years. For instance, there was the recent success of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie coming up on September 29th. Further down the line, there’s Transformers One opening July 19th, 2024, an untitled Smurfs film on Valentine’s Day, 2025, and The SpongeBob Movie: The Search for the SquarePants planned to release May 23rd, 2025.

Superworld does not yet have a writer, director, cast, or release date, so stay tuned for more information on the animation project!
