Robert Eggers Sets WERWULF As His Next Film

Now he’s ticked vampires off his list, filmmaker Robert Eggers is ready to tackle a hairier creature, with plans he’ll make a werewolf horror project his next feature.

Eggers co-wrote the script for Werwulf with Sjón, who collaborated with him on the Viking saga The Northman. While details are scarce, sources say the story is set in 13th-century England. The script also features dialogue that was true to the time period and has translations and annotations for those unfamiliar with Old English.

“Initially, Eggers was planning on shooting the feature in black and white, but that is no longer the case,” THR, who broke the news, notes. “Suffice to say that considering the setting and the dialect, Eggers is promising another deep dive into a muddy, costumed and violent time period consistent with his oeuvre, which has earned him a loyal film following.”

Focus Features, which released and financed Nosferatu, reteams with Eggers for this pic. The company has dated the thriller to release on Christmas Day, 2026. This comes right after Nosferatu earned four Oscar nominations, including one one for Jarin Blaschke’s gorgeous monochrome cinematography. Both Robert Eggers and Sjón will produce alongside Focus Features. Chris and Eleanor Columbus, who worked with Eggers on Nosferatu, will executive produce.

Ryan Gosling is headed to the great galaxy far, far away, with news that the three-time Oscar nominee is in talks to head up a new Star Wars feature film from Deadpool & Wolverine filmmaker Shawn Levy.

Levy has been developing his Star Wars feature since 2022 and Jonathan Tropper, who collaborated with Levy This Is Where I Leave You and The Adam Project, has been working on the script for a year. Levy is also producing the feature via his 21 Laps banner, alongside Star Wars helmers Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm.

Very little is known about Levy’s project, other than it is unconnected to the Skywalker Saga. It is also meant to be a standalone film.

THR reports that due to the existing work commitments of those involved, if the deal with Ryan Gosling goes through, this Star Wars project would become a priority for Levy, and filming could begin as early as this autumn.

Ryan Gosling previously worked on Universal’s Fall Guy, in which he starred as a stunt actor opposite Emily Blunt. He recently wrapped on Project hail Mary, another space-set film from Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

Elsewhere in the universe, The Mandalorian and Grogu will be the next Star Wars feature to hit the big screen, and will be released on may 22nd, 2026.

OPUS Drops Trailer For Cult-Based Horror

ayo edebiri stars as ariel in opus trailer

After dropping a first-look image at the pic, A24 has launched the full trailer for their upcoming horror film Opus, which stars Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich.

In Opus, “A young writer is invited to the remote compound of a legendary pop star who mysteriously disappeared 30 years ago. Surrounded by the star’s cult of sycophants and intoxicated journalists, she finds herself in the middle of his twisted plan.”

Hailing from first-time feature filmmaker, Mark Anthony Green writes and directs the pic that will release in cinemas on March 14th, 2025. The film has been described as “flashy pop horror” and a “tense, psychosocial game of cat and mouse”.

Edebiri, who rose to prominence with roles in The Bear and Bottoms, will play the “meek yet hungry journalist Ariel — her unique charm radiating alongside a distinct final-girl prescience. John Malkovich is effervescent and hypnotic as Moretti, a deified global phenomenon making a dramatically malevolent reintroduction.” Reports out of Sundance suggest the flick includes musical numbers. Opus will have its world premiere at the film festival later this month.

The film stars Amber Midthunder, Juliette Lewis, Murray Bartlett, Stephanie Suganami, Young Mazino, and Tatanka Means.

Laurence R. Harvey Joins Cast of ASMR Horror SPOILING YOU

A first look at Laurence R. Harvey joining the cast of Megan Tremethick’s forthcoming uncanny horror project, Spoiling You, has been revealed. Laurence, who is famous for his roles in The Human Centipede series and many other genre movies (and for being a jolly nice chap), takes on the role of a devoted fanatic of ASMR performer Miss Mutter. This wild and unpredictable character unleashes chaos in the film’s chilling narrative. Tremethick (The Slave and The Sorcerer and the upcoming The Reign of Queen Ginnarra) contributes on-screen and behind the camera to bring the story to life. The film is co-written by producer Lawrie Brewster (Lord of Tears).

Spoiling You fuses the creeping dread of J-horror with the hypnotic allure of ASMR as Miss Mutter’s devoted fans fall deeper under her spell. Tension escalates when one of her most fervent admirers, portrayed by Stephen Kerr, makes a daring leap from virtual obsession to an in-person encounter, triggering a chilling chain of events that tears at the boundary between desire and fear. An immersive ASMR-inspired soundscape ensures every spine-tingling whisper resonates deeply, drawing viewers into Miss Mutter’s sinister web. Created with support from the online community on Patreon – The British Horror Studio – this project reflects the shared enthusiasm of horror fans.

The film also features Nick Ford, Richard Pate, Alexander Zorn, Peter F. Mahoney, Zebadiah DeVane, and Dorian Todd. Spoiling You promises an eerie and psychologically charged viewing experience, with Harvey’s portrayal at the heart of its disturbing revelations. The film is expected to be released later this year.

Joel McHale Boards SCREAM 7

joel mchale from the bear joins cast of scream 7

Joel McHale, the actor and comedian best known for Community, joins Scream 7 to play the husband to Neve Campbell‘s Sidney Prescott.

The casting came as a surprise to some, who believed Patrick Dempsey was the ‘Mark’ who Sidney Prescott alluded to having married, and thought Dempsey would be reprising his Scream 3 role as Detective Mark Kinkaid. However, reports state Joel McHale will play a character named Mark Evans.

He joins fellow stars Isabel May, who will play Prescott’s daughter, as well as Mason Gooding, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace and Sam Rechner. It was also confirmed that Jasmin Savoy Brown would be returning.

Despite being part of the Core Four who revitalised the Scream franchise in 2022 (alongside Savoy Brown and Gooding), Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega will not be returning in Scream 7. Barrera was fired from the franchise following social media posts addressing the Israel-Hamas war, and Ortega exited due to pursuing other projects. Christopher Landon, who was due to direct the instalment, also stepped away following news of these exits.

Kevin Williamson — the creator of the franchise who penned the script to the Wes Craven-directed original, as well as Scream 2 and Scream 4 — is directing this instalment. Guy Busick, who wrote 2022‘s Scream and Scream VI, wrote the script.

Paramount is set to release Scream 7 in cinemas on February 27th, 2026.

UNTIL DAWN Adaptation Drops Trailer

until dawn film adaptation still

Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for Until Dawn, the live-action adaptation of the popular 2015 PlayStation horror game.

Developed by Supermassive Games, Until Dawn follows a group of eight unsuspecting teenagers who get together in a remote cabin a year after two of their friends go missing. Through the use of a high-stakes “butterfly effect” mechanic, players make choices that impact later gameplay as they try to dodge masked killers, cannibalistic creatures, and figure out who among them can be trusted.

The trailer shows the butterfly effect in action as characters get killed off by different monsters, only to come back to life and repeat the same events with different outcomes each time.

Directed by David F. Sandberg from a script by Gary Daubmerman, with a previous draft by Blair Butler, the live-action film follows a slightly different path to the game. “One year after her sister Melanie (Maia Mitchell) mysteriously disappeared, Clover (Ella Rubin) and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening. Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again and again – only each time the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. Hope dwindling, the group soon realizes they have a limited number of deaths left, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.”

Michael Cimino will play Clover’s ex-boyfriend Max, Ji-young Yoo will play Max’s step-sister Megan, Odessa A’zion will play Clover’s friend Nina, and Belmont Cameli will play Nina’s boyfriend Abel. Peter Stormare will reprise his role from the video game as Dr. Alan J Hill.

Until Dawn releases into cinemas from April 25th, 2025. Watch the trailer below:

DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Trailer Shows There May Still Be Hope For The MCU

kingpin and daredevil poster for daredevil: born again

The first trailer for the hotly-anticipated Daredevil: Born Again is deliciously bloody, and very much in the spirit of its excellent Netflix predecessor. Matt Murdock, an attorney by day and vigilante by night played by Charlie Cox, and Kingpin, played by the fantastic Vincent D’Onofrio, reunite years later when Daredevil has hung up his mask, and Wilson Fisk has become mayor.

“I will admit, it’s not entirely unpleasant seeing you again,” Fisk tells Murdock. “I can’t shake the feeling you’re gaming the system,” Murdock tells Fisk in return.

In September 2023, Daredevil: Born Again overhauled its planned 18-episode series after early footage failed to wow Marvel Studios. The Punisher writer Dario Scardapane was then brought on as the new showrunner, and it was confirmed that the Marvel universe that once resided on Netflix – and which included Jessica Jones, The Punisher, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders – would be folded into the MCU canon.

The series also stars Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, with Ayelet Zurer and Jon Bernthal.

Daredevil: Born Again will release on March 4th, 2025, on Disney+. Watch the trailer below:
