MOTHER MARY Trailer Teases Psychosexual Thriller

anne hathaway as mother mary in trailer

This is not a ghost story. This is not a love story. This is a prayer, a song, a dress, a communion. A betrayal, a sacrifice, a rebirth. At least, so promises the first official trailer for the much-anticipated A24 film, Mother Mary.

Written and directed by David Lowery (The Green Knight, A Ghost Story), the psychosexual pop thriller stars Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel.

In the film, long-buried wounds rise to the surface when iconic pop star Mother Mary (Hathaway) reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer Sam Anselm (Coel) on the eve of her comeback performance. Cue spooky seances, simmering sexual tension, and religious symbolism aplenty.

Hunter Schafer, Atheena Frizzell, Kaia Gerber, Jessica Brown Findlay, Alba Baptista, Isaura Barbé-Brown, Sian Clifford, and FKA Twigs also star. The movie features original songs by Jack Antonoff, Charli xcx, and FKA Twigs.

Lowery has called this project a “weird, weird film” that is partly inspired by Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula. He has also likened it to shooting Apocalypse Now.

Mother Mary is due to release in cinemas in April 2026, with an exact date yet to be announced (so stay tuned). Watch the trailer below:

Supernatural Horror Movie THE NAMELESS BALLAD Starts Shooting

Federico Zampaglioni directs The Nameless Ballad

The Nameless Ballad, the new feature by Federico Zampaglione (Shadow, The Well) has officially commenced filming in Fara Sabina in Italy. After the international success of The Well, the Italian director is back behind the camera to tell a terrifying story steeped in mystery, set in the music scene.

Jamie Ward (His Dark Materials) stars as Sam Gallo, a young, successful musician with a fragile, introverted personality. Crushed by the pressure to create new songs and haunted by addictions, Sam retreats to an isolated villa in search of inspiration. However, his vulnerabilities make him an ideal prey for the dark presences inhabiting the house. Entities that feed on his anguish and deepest fears, luring him into a labyrinth of visions, torment, and self-destruction. His partner, Tania (Alana Boden, I Am Elizabeth Smart) is also drawn into this spiral of horror.

Written by Zampaglione and Barbara Baraldi (Dylan Dog), the film takes the viewer on a journey along the thin line between imagination and nightmare.

The cast also includes: Giglia Marra (Morrison), Fabrizio Ferracane (Black Souls), Seumas Sargent (The Signal), Reed Stokes (The Tour Guide), Mia Desando, Vincenzo De Michele, and Sergio Ceglie. A special additional cast member will be revealed soon, and is set to delight fans of the genre.

Zampaglione comments: “Although deeply rooted in the supernatural, this is probably my most personal film, because it is inspired by my work as a musician and singer. With The Nameless Ballad, I brought the story onto an imaginative and daring plane, where, in the shadows of the music world, every note awakens a ghost and some melodies demand blood before fading away.”

The Nameless Ballad is expected to premiere at major genre festivals in 2026.

HELLDIVERS Adaptation Locks In Director

still from helldivers 2 video game

Nearly a year after Sony Pictures first announced it would bring Helldivers to the silver screen, news has finally come that long-time The Fast and the Furious franchise director Justin Lin is on board to helm the video game adaptation. Gary Dauberman, best known for penning It and Annabelle, has authored the script for the project.

Lin will also produce the film via his Perfect Storm Entertainment banner, with Hutch Parker and PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan co-producing.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Lin aims to “find the humanity in the characters and weave timely themes” into the story for the film adaptation while building out the world and mythology. Helldivers launched in 2015 as a top-down shooter game. The 2024 sequel switched to a third-person perspective.

Heavily inspired by Paul Verhoeven’s classic 1997 action film Starship Troopers, Helldivers and its sequels follow an elite unit of shock troopers in the 22nd century who must battle aliens known simply as Bugs, Cyborgs, and Illuminate, who threaten to destroy the interplanetary empire of Super Earth.

Though best known for his work on the Fast & Furious franchise, Justin Lin also directed Star Trek Beyond, and has worked on television series like Magnum P.I., Scorpion, and Community.

Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds, National Treasure) stars in the trailer for the psychological thriller and mystery feature Visions, a French film with some distinct Hitchcockian influences.

Kruger stars as Estelle, a brilliant airline captain who leads a seemingly perfect life with her renowned doctor husband, Guillaume (Mathieu Kassovitz, writer and director of the iconic ’90s film La Haine). However, things are soon thrown into chaos when Estelle falls in love with Ana (Marta Nieto) and begins an intense affair. The situation takes a sinister turn when Ana inexplicably goes missing, and Estelle comes to believe her husband is the one responsible.

Black Box and A Perfect Man director Yann Gozlan helms the film from a script he co-wrote with Michel Fessler, Aurélie Valat, Jean-Baptiste Delafon, and Audrey Diwan.

Amira Casar, Grégory Fitoussi, and Élodie Navarre round out the cast.

Though the film initially premiered on August 24th, 2023 at the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival and was later released theatrically in France on September 6th, 2023, it is only now getting its release in the United States. Trailer Teases A Bloody End To The Trilogy In THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 3

the strangers chapter 3 teaser trailer still pin-up girl

The teaser trailer for The Strangers: Chapter 3 has just been released, promising a bloody end to the trilogy that began in 2024 (itself a reboot of the franchise that began with the 2008 film The Strangers, starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman). Aiming to be the franchise’s darkest entry yet, Chapter 3 will expand the mythology of the iconic masked killers.

Riverdale‘s Madelaine Petsch returns as Maya for the final girl’s long-awaited vengeance, locked on an unforgiving collision course with the Strangers. Renny Harlin returns to direct from a script by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland. The film also stars Gabriel Basso, Emma Horvath, Pablo Sandstrom, and Richard Brake.

Per the official synopsis, “Maya faces the masked killers one last time in a clash of survival and revenge… this won’t just be another round of cat-and-mouse, but a confrontation that closes the loop on everything the killers have done to her.”

On the third film, director Harlin told Fangoria earlier this year: “Chapter 3 is… I mean, first of all, you have to see all these movies to really enjoy them to the fullest. But when you see what we have in store, in terms of how Madeleine’s character changes and twists… When you’ve been tortured enough and chased enough and pushed hard enough, when you come to a breaking point, what happens? I actually get chills now when I’m thinking about it and talking about it, because it’s going to be such a surprise for the audience. I promise that it’s something that you could not, in your wildest dreams, expect to happen.”

The Strangers: Chapter 3 releases on February 6th, 2026.

Scarlett Johansson To Star In THE EXORCIST

scarlett johansson to star in the exorcist from mike flanagan. still from jurassic world: rebirth

Marvel and Jurassic World star Scarlett Johansson has been tapped to star in Mike Flanagan’s upcoming adaptation of horror cinema classic The Exorcist. The film is Blumhouse and Universal’s latest attempt to revive the franchise following the companies’ panned The Exorcist: Believer, released in 2023.

Flanagan wrote the script and is both directing and producing the new feature. The filmmaker has previously made clear that his take on the iconic IP will be neither a remake nor a sequel, but set in the Exorcist “universe”.

The original film, based on the novel by William Peter Blatty and directed by William Friedkin, centred on the demonic possession of a young girl and the priests who tried to free her. The various follow-ups mostly featured stories focused on the grown-up girl, the priests’ backstories, or other demonic cases the detectives from the first film had investigated.

The Exorcist is one of the reasons I became a filmmaker, and it is an honour to have the chance to try something fresh, bold and terrifying within its universe,” said Flanagan of his involvement when it was announced in May 2024.

Flanagan, who is known for directing Stephen King adaptations such as Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game as well as creating series like Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House, is producing via his Red Room Pictures banner. David Robinson is producing for Morgan Creek Entertainment, while Jason Blum and Ryan Turek serve as producer and executive producer, respectively, for Blumhouse.

Johansson was recently seen leading Jurassic World: Rebirth, and made her directorial debut with Eleanor the Great.

Glen Powell Goes On Murder Spree In HOW TO MAKE A KILLING Trailer

glen powell in a24 trailer for how to make a killing

Glen Powell finds himself with seven people in the way of his inheritance in the trailer for the A24 thriller How to Make a Killing. Hailing from writer and director John Patton Ford, the film also stars Margaret Qualley, Jessica Henwick, Zach Woods, Topher Grace, Bill Camp and Ed Harris.

Loosely inspired by Robert Hamer’s 1949 Ealing comedy Kind Hearts and Coronets, the feature centres on Becket Redfellow (Powell), who has been cast aside by his incredibly wealthy family and will go to any lengths necessary to ensure his inheritance.

“There were seven of them — seven rich pricks between myself and $28 billion,” Powell says in the trailer about his extended family. “If I were to prune a few branches of the family tree …”

Ford’s screenplay originally appeared on the 2014 Black List under the title Rothchild. In 2019, Jon S. Baird signed on to direct the film, with Shia LaBeouf and Mel Gibson due to star. Development of the project resumed in 2023, with plans for Ford to direct the film, which was then retitled Huntington. The new title, How to Make a Killing, was only just revealed.

This will only mark Ford’s second feature film, having previously helmed the Aubrey Plaza-starring crime thriller, Emily the Criminal. Powell can right now be seen in Edgar Wright’s The Running Man.

How to Make a Killing lands in cinemas on February 20th, 2026. Watch the trailer below:

A24 Horror From THE FIRST OMEN Director Reveals Cast

the first omen

Emma Corrin (Nosferatu), Hunter Schafer (Cuckoo), Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms, Lurker), and Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me) have been announced to join A24’s as-yet-untitled horror film from The First Omen writer-director Arkasha Stevenson.

In talks to also star are Josh Hutcherson (Five Nights at Freddy’s), Frank Dillane (Fear the Walking Dead), Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out), and Whitmer Thomas (Weapons). Stevenson is directing from a script she co-wrote with Tim Smith, with whom she’d previously collaborated on The First Omen.

While the logline remains under wraps, the story reportedly centres on a bachelor party that spirals into terror.

Hereditary and Midsommar‘s Ari Aster will executive produce through his Square Peg banner. Smith, Lars Knudsen, Emily Hildner, Harrison Huffman, and Chrstina D’Souza are producing.

This will mark Stevenson’s second feature film, having previously directed episodes of Channel Zero, Briarpatch, and Legion.

Corrin appeared alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman last year in Deadpool & Wolverine, and were recently seen leading 100 Nights of Hero, which closed the London Film Festival. Schafer is soon set to star opposite Michelle Yeoh in Prime Video’s series Blade Runner 2099, and will next be seen in the A24 film Mother Mary, which also stars Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel. Rose Liu was recently seen in the feature Tuner and the horror-thriller Lurker. Wilde is best known for her acclaimed role in Talk To Me, also an A24 horror.
