THE WALKING DEAD: DARYL DIXON Teaser Drops

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon still showing smart zombies

The next spinoff show in The Walking Dead universe, AMC’s The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, has debuted a brand new teaser trailer. Original franchise star Norman Reedus returns to his role as Daryl Dixon as the character journeys across a broken but resilient France, as he hopes to find a way back home to the States. As Daryl makes the journey, however, the connections he forms along the way seem to complicate his ultimate plan.

One such connection forces a detour that sees Daryl accept a mission to travel with a young boy called Laurent, who is important to a mysterious religious order, through Provence in order to ignite “the revival of humanity”.

The series also presents new audiences a chance to jump into the story without prior knowledge of the universe, explains The Walking Dead director Greg Nicotero. “This is probably the closest to a standalone show you will ever get. The goal isn’t just to see Daryl in exotic and new locations, but to explore a wholly different world. This is definitely not more of the same. Our show introduces new characters, new themes, and is an exciting extension of the genre that will delight people who love this kind of storytelling and crave more.”

David Zabel serves as showrunner for the spinoff project, which also stars Clémence Poésy, Adam Nagaitis, Anne Charrier, Eriq Ebouaney, Laika Blanc Francard, Romain Levi and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi and is executive produced by Zabel, Reedus, Scott M. Gimple, Greg Nicotero, Angela Kang, Brian Bockrath and Daniel Percival.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premieres on AMC and AMC+ on September 10th with a six-episode first season. The show has already been renewed for a second season.

Netflix has announced The Fall of the House of Usher will premiere on the platform on October 12th, and has released some of the first images of the series, which you can see below. The eight-episode limited series from Mike Flanagan – best known as the creator of The Haunting anthology series and Midnight Mass – is based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe.

Per the synopsis, the Netflix series centres on ruthless siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher, who have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into a vast empire of wealth, influence, and power. However, damaging secrets begin to come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.

Beyond Greenwood, the limited series also stars Carla Gugino, Mary McDonnell, Carl Lumbly, Mark Hamill, Michael Trucco, T’Nia Miller, Paola Nuñez, Henry Thomas, Kyleigh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Sauriyan Sapkota, Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Aya Furukawa, Daniel Jun, Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Annabeth Gish, Igby Rigney and Robert Longstreet.

A TALK TO ME Sequel Is Confirmed

talk to me sequel confirmed

A24 is reteaming with writing-directing twin brothers Danny and Michael Philippou for a sequel to their summer horror breakout film Talk to Me, to be titled (we bet you can work it out)… Talk 2 Me.

It will be written by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman, and is set to be directed once again by Danny and Michael Philippou. Talk to Me world premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year as part of their Midnight Selections programme, and was picked up for a hefty sum by A24 after receiving rave reviews.

As we reported last week, the brothers have also said they had already filmed some form of a prequel centring on the character Duckett, whose demise is witnessed in the opening sequence of Talk to Me. It’s unclear whether this footage will be released.

Talk to Me is produced by Causeway Films’ Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton. The Philippou brothers’ film joins A24 horror franchises like Ti West’s trilogy, with the upcoming film MaXXXine starring Mia Goth, Halsey, Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon.

Stay tuned for more updates on this upcoming Talk to Me sequel, including casting news and a release date.

Solo: A Star Wars Story and Oppenheimer star Alden Ehrenreich stars opposite Phoebe Dynevor (of Bridgerton fame) in the first trailer for the Netflix erotic thriller Fair Play, as their characters navigate a clandestine romance while competing for the same high-powered promotion.

Per the film’s official synopsis, “When a coveted promotion at a cutthroat financial firm arises, once supportive exchanges between lovers Emily (Dynevor) and Luke (Ehrenreich) begin to sour into something more sinister. As the power dynamics irrevocably shift in their relationship, the couple must face the true price of success and the unnerving limits of ambition.” The film, which proved a hit at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, hails from writer and director Chloe Domont. After dazzling at the prestigious festival, Fair Play sparked a bidding war that was eventually won by Netflix for a reported $20 million.

Eddie Marsan, Rich Sommer and Sebastian De Souza also star. Domont makes Fair Play her feature directorial debut after helming several television episodes of Billions and Ballers – she even helmed one episode of Star Trek: Discovery.

Fair Play will release in select cinemas from September 29th, before launching on Netflix globally on October 13th. Watch the first trailer below:

A TALK TO ME Prequel Has Already Been Shot

talk to me horror film still

In a move reminiscent of Ti West’s Pearl reveal last year, Talk to Me directors and brothers Danny and Michael Philippou announced they’ve already filmed a prequel to the events of the A24-distributed horror film. In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, they explain that they have shot something that fleshes out the story of Duckett, a previous victim of the Hand whose fate is revealed in Talk to Me’s opening scene.

In the opening, Cole (Ari McCarthy) is desperately trying to find his brother Duckett (Sunny Johnson) at a house party. It quickly becomes clear that the latter is possessed and the scene grows violent as bystanders either run away or record the incident in horror.

Danny Philippou tells the outlet, “We actually shot an entire Duckett prequel already. It’s told entirely through the perspective of mobile phones and social media, so maybe down the line we can release that.” It’s unclear from the interview whether this footage would be enough for a feature or, more likely, whether it would lend itself to a short film prequel.

The director continues to state that “also while writing the first film, you can’t help but write scenes for a second film. So there’s so many scenes. The mythology was so thick, and yeah, if A24 gave us the opportunity, we wouldn’t be able to resist. I feel like we’d jump at it.”

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see about a prequel and/or a sequel!

George A. Romero’s Final Zombie Movie Is A-Go

george a. romero treatment gets financed as his final zombie film

One of the godfathers of the horror genre, George A. Romero’s final zombie movie Twilight Of The Dead has just landed a deal with financier-producer Roundtable Entertainment, with production planned to begin late this year.

The George A. Romero estate is teaming with Roundtable to bring this seventh and final instalment of the Living Dead franchise to the screen. Romero had written a treatment for the movie prior to passing in 2017, which he regarded as the conclusion to his movie series. The script was then taken on and finished by Joe Knetter, Robert Lucas, and Paolo Zelati, who also worked on the treatment with Romero.

Deadline, who broke this story, report that Twilight Of The Dead is set on a tropical island and will “delve into the dark nature of humanity from the perspective of the last humans on earth who are caught between factions of the undead,” and provide a “thought-provoking socio-political commentary wrapped in a genre piece”.

Suzanne Romero, the late filmmaker’s wife and estate manager, said: “I’m delighted to be joining forces with Roundtable to bring the eerie evolution of Romero’s universe to the screen. Roundtable impressed me with their long-term and deep love of George’s work. I believe they have the vision to produce the best version of this movie that honors the Romero legacy. I can’t wait to start filming!”

Romero’s franchise began in 1968, with Night Of The Living Dead becoming the zombie classic that launched the genre – a horror subset that is going strong to this day.

Christopher Landon To Direct SCREAM 7

scream 7 to be directed by christopher landon

Spyglass has announced a new Scream movie is in development, with Happy Death Day helmer Christopher Landon on board to direct the horror feature.

Landon takes over from Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the filmmaking team known as Radio Silence, who rebooted the Scream franchise with 2022’s Scream and the most recent instalment, Scream VI, which released earlier this year. Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett have reportedly stepped back from the film series to focus on an original horror for Universal (that film doesn’t yet have a publicly released plot or synopsis, but rumours are that it will be an adaptation of Dracula’s Daughter) but Radio Silence – including Chad Villella – are staying on as executive producers.

Christopher Landon is a popular director in the horror world, having also helmed the body-switching horror-comedy starring Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn, Freaky, as well as the more recent We Have A Ghost for Netflix, which starred David Harbour and Jahi Winston. He also served as a writer for the Paranormal Activity franchise.

Scream 7 does not yet have a writer. The reboot cast, led by Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, and Mason Gooding, have yet to sign on for this next instalment but are expected to do so once the SAG-AFTRA strikes come to an end.
