Netflix has announced The Fall of the House of Usher will premiere on the platform on October 12th, and has released some of the first images of the series, which you can see below. The eight-episode limited series from Mike Flanagan – best known as the creator of The Haunting anthology series and Midnight Mass – is based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe.
The series stars Bruce Greenwood, who replaced Frank Langella in the lead role after the latter was fired amidst a misconduct investigation back in April of last year. The Fall of the House of Usher was already halfway through production when the casting change happened, which meant a slew of scenes had to be reshot.
Per the synopsis, the Netflix series centres on ruthless siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher, who have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into a vast empire of wealth, influence, and power. However, damaging secrets begin to come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.
Beyond Greenwood, the limited series also stars Carla Gugino, Mary McDonnell, Carl Lumbly, Mark Hamill, Michael Trucco, T’Nia Miller, Paola Nuñez, Henry Thomas, Kyleigh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Sauriyan Sapkota, Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Aya Furukawa, Daniel Jun, Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Annabeth Gish, Igby Rigney and Robert Longstreet.
