American Horror Story: Delicate Teaser Drops

kim kardashian in american horror story: delicate teaser trailer

FX has dropped the first cryptic (or shall we say, cryptid?) trailer for American Horror Story: Delicate, starring Kim Kardashian, Emma Roberts and Cara Delevingne. This marks Kim K’s first foray into scripted television.

Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s horror anthology series, now on its twelfth season, will debut on September 20th. The season will premiere in two parts, though it’s not yet known how the episodes will be split up. Delicate also stars series veteran Zachary Quinto, and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Matt Czuchry, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Odessa A’zion, Debra Monk and Julie Monk.

As we wrote earlier this week, American Horror Story: Delicate, which hails from showrunner Halley Feiffer, has been described as a feminist update of Rosemary’s Baby and is partly based on Danielle Valentine’s thriller novel Delicate Condition. The season follows actress Anna Victoria Alcott (Roberts) who, after multiple failed attempts at IVF, wants more than anything to start a family. As the buzz around her recent film grows, she becomes convinced that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to doom her pursuit of motherhood.

Freddy Rodriguez To Headline V/H/S/85, And More Details Revealed

still from shudder anthology v/h/s/85

Wu-Tang: An American Saga and Six Feet Under star Freddy Rodriguez will be leading the cast of Shudder’s found-footage horror anthology film V/H/S/85, Deadline reports. In the film, which premieres at Fantastic Fest next month, Rodriguez portrays Detective Wayne Johnson, a seasoned investigator looking into a string of gruesome murders perpetuated by an elusive serial killer. The actor is also known for his big-screen turns in M. Night Shyamalan’s Lady in the Water, Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s Grindhouse, and David Ayers’ Harsh Times.

Also part of the V/H/S/85 ensemble cast are Jordan Belfi, James Ransone, Dani Deetté, Rolando Davila-Beltran, Justen Jones, Marcio Moreno, Ari Gallegos, Forrest Hartl, Duffy McManus, Eric Pierson, Felipe de Lara, Tom Reed and Vivian Morse.

The project is written by Zoe Cooper, Evan Dickson, Scott Derrickson, C. Robert Cargill, Mike P. Nelson, Gigi Saul Guerrero. Directors include David Bruckner, Derrickson, Nelson, Guerrero and Natasha Kermani. V/H/S/85 is produced by Bruckner, Joshua Goldbloom, Brad Miska, Radio Silence, James Harris, Michael Schrieber and Adam Boorstin.

Per Fantastic Fest‘s official description: “A natural disaster leads to a horrifying discovery, shocking terror on a sun-soaked lake, and a performance art piece attempting to contact a new god. How do these ideas relate? Well, you’ll just have to pop V/H/S/85 in the VCR and see for yourself.

The found footage franchise returns to Fantastic Fest with more eldritch beings than you can cram onto a handheld camcorder. This installment features alumni galore as we journey back to the ‘80s for teenage campout shenanigans and newscasts from the pits of indigenous retribution.

Mike P. Nelson explores body horror and right-wing, gun-nut extremism in NO WAKE. Gigi Saul Guerrero brings the horror to a disaster recovery crew in GOD OF DEATH. Natasha Kermani brings us a performance artist whose installation goes wrong in TKNOGD. And finally, Scott Derrickson returns to Fantastic Fest with a disturbing vision of videotaped murders in DREAMKILL. The segments are all tied together with a spooky research study from director David Bruckner.

Get ready for a found footage compilation of disembowelment, clubbing, and dismemberment, just to name a few of the grisly deaths. It’s Reaganomics and imperial disillusionment in the way that only the V/H/S movies can do them — with the fake blood hose nozzle cranked up to the soak setting.”

New D&D Adventure Returns To The Start

Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition started with a bang, thanks to the highly regarded starter adventure Lost Mine of Phandelver. The new book for Dungeons and Dragons, Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk, promises to finish what it began.

The 200-page hardback is a remix of the original story, taking players from level one to level twelve. It promises to take the party far into the depths of the world. But never mind all that. It also features mutant cows.

There are some new and very creepy monsters and a slow-reveal horror plot, blending dungeon-crawling fun with weird fiction. The book will also have rules for corruption, for games that like sort of peril.

Expect to see old monsters re-imagined in terrifying new ways. As well as some new strange and gross beasties for players to fight.

The adventure is set to have a spelunking / dungeon-delving vibe, with a splash of Indiana Jones/Stranger Things exploration mystery.

In Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk, players are immersed in a story that gets stranger and becomes more ominous as the adventure goes on,” says Amanda Hamon, Senior Designer in the D&D Studio and the book’s lead designer. “Once the nature of the threat to Phandalin becomes clear, the characters must race against the clock to save this beloved town against classic D&D villains we’ve given a fresh, terrifying twist.

The book will feature a magic appendix that includes new consumable metamagic items and duergar magic, a bestiary with more than twenty new creatures that showcase psionic magic, mutates, and even new goblins. We will also get plenty of maps for dungeon-crawling fun.

Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk is out in physical form from September 19th. Games stores will be the exclusive suppliers of a limited edition shiny cover version of the book. Early access to digital content can be found via DnDBeyond from September 5th.

Titans Series MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Releases First-Look

monarch: legacy of monsters godzilla

Apple TV+ has revealed some series details and some first-look images for its upcoming series, which has just been renamed to Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and is based on Legendary’s Monsterverse.

According to the streamer, the story of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will span three generations and centre on two siblings who follow in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organisation known as Monarch, the kaiju-tracking group featured in earlier Monsterverse films.

The siblings’ research leads them down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Wyatt Russell in the 1950s and Kurt Russell in the series’ present-day, which is set after the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans in 2014’s Godzilla). According to the synopsis, Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows, and the siblings will uncover buried secrets that could lead to earth-shattering events.

Beyond the father-son duo, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters also stars Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski.

The series is co-developed by Star Trek: Enterprise’s Chris Black and Hawkeye’s Matt Fraction. The streamer has not yet announced a release date. Check out the first-look photos below:

AMERICAN HORROR STORIES Returns For Halloween Event

american horror stories huluween special

FX’s American Horror Stories will return with four brand-new episodes for Hulu’s ‘Huluween’ event, set to premiere on October 26th. Over its many seasons, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s hit anthology series has explored scary stories across various backdrops, including an asylum, a traveling freak show, and a haunted hotel. Episode details for this latest batch are being kept under wraps for the time being.

However, Deadline does report that former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna will headline one of the episodes, titled “Tapeworm”. American Horror Stories serves as a direct spin-off to American Horror Story (yes, it’s confusing). The difference between the two shows is that while the latter tells an overarching story throughout a season, the former tells a different story in each episode.

American Horror Story also recently announced its Season 12 premiere date, which will debut in two parts. Part 1 of American Horror Story: Delicate will launch on September 20th. That season, which hails from showrunner Halley Feiffer, has been described as a feminist update of Rosemary’s Baby and is partly based on Danielle Valentine’s thriller novel Delicate Condition, which follows a woman who becomes convinced that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to ensure her attempts to have a child fail.

kiernan shipka in totally killer

Prime Video and Blumhouse Television have unveiled a series of first-look still for their time travelling horror-comedy Totally Killer, which stars Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actress Kiernan Shipka.

Per the official synopsis (which makes this story sound a fair bit like The Final Girls), the film follows the infamous “Sweet Sixteen Killer” as they return on Halloween night, 35 years after their shocking murder of three teens, to claim a fourth victim. 17-year-old Jamie (Shipka) ignores her overprotective mom’s (Julie Bowen) warning and comes face-to-face with the masked maniac and, on the run for her life, accidentally time travels back to 1987, the year of the original killings. She’s then forced to navigate the unfamiliar and outrageous culture of the 1980s, teaming up with a teenage version of her mom (Olivia Holt) to take down the killer once and for all, before she’s stuck in the past forever.

Directed by Always Be My Maybe filmmaker Nahnatchka Khan, Totally Killer is co-written by David Matalon, Sasha Perl-Raver and Jen D’Angelo. The cast also includes Randall Park, Charlie Gillespie, Lochlyn Munro, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, Liana Liberato, Kelcey Mawema, Stephi Chin-Salvo, Anna Diaz, Ella Choi, Jeremy Monn-Djasgnar, Nathaniel Appiah, and Jonathan Potts.

Aquatic Horror Series THE SWARM Coming To The CW

the swarm series picked up by the CW

Eco-thriller series The Swarm will be surfacing on American network The CW next month, after the project originally aired in Germany earlier this year (titled Der Schwarm, which sounds like it’s a joke translation). You can read the full synopsis below:

“Around the world, strange happenings, borne out of the oceans: Whales destroy boats, deep sea crabs attack beaches, mussels block container ships. An unknown ice worm destabilizes continental slopes and triggers tsunamis. A deadly pathogen spreads into the drinking water. Across the globe, lives are increasingly imperilled, the situation worsening by the day—and yet, nobody can draw a connection between the seemingly random attacks.

“Except for a group of scientists who come together through their shared sense that something bigger is at play: an intelligent life force, dwelling in the deep—capable of manipulating the ocean, and everything that resides in it. A being which has borne witness to our destruction of the seas and has decided to drive us to extinction. But hardly anyone believes their findings. And so, the group is forced to undertake a life-threatening mission, tracking the intelligent life force within the Arctic Ocean. It is a mission they know may claim their lives.”

The Swarm will premiere on The CW September 12th. Watch the trailer below:
