Apple TV+ has revealed some series details and some first-look images for its upcoming series, which has just been renamed to Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and is based on Legendary’s Monsterverse.

According to the streamer, the story of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will span three generations and centre on two siblings who follow in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organisation known as Monarch, the kaiju-tracking group featured in earlier Monsterverse films.

The siblings’ research leads them down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Wyatt Russell in the 1950s and Kurt Russell in the series’ present-day, which is set after the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans in 2014’s Godzilla). According to the synopsis, Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows, and the siblings will uncover buried secrets that could lead to earth-shattering events.

Beyond the father-son duo, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters also stars Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski.

The series is co-developed by Star Trek: Enterprise’s Chris Black and Hawkeye’s Matt Fraction. The streamer has not yet announced a release date. Check out the first-look photos below:
