nicolas cage as paul in the trailer for arcadian

Ahead of its World Premiere at SXSW later this month, the Nicolas Cage-starring dystopian horror Arcadian has unveiled its first official trailer.

In a near future and after a catastrophic event depopulates the world, normal life on Earth is no more. Paul and his two sons, Thomas and Joseph, have been living a half-life – tranquillity by day and torment by night. Every night, after the sun sets, they face the unrelenting attacks of a mysterious and violent evil. One day, when Thomas doesn’t return home before sundown, Paul must leave the safety of their fortified farm to find him. A nightmarish battle ensues that forces the family to execute a desperate plan to survive.

As Nicolas Cage’s character explains of the creatures in the trailer’s voiceover, “There are those who believe they came after the pollution people caused, and they’re here to cleanse the planet of the human race so we’ll all become extinct.” The trailer only grants us a peek at the monsters in question, but they sure look like they can pack a punch.

Jaeden Martell (It, Knives Out), Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) and Sadie Soverall (Fate: The Winx Saga) star opposite Cage. Ben Brewer directs the film from a script by Mike Nilon.

Arcadian will release in cinemas from April 12th. Watch the trailer below:

walton goggins as the ghoul in the full trailer for fallout

Prime Video is bringing the incredibly popular Fallout video games to the small screen in this live-action television series, which is expected to premiere on April 11th. The new trailer ushers viewers into a chaotic world of mutants, monsters, gore, and apocalyptic destruction set against the savage Wasteland of a devastated Los Angeles.

In Fallout, “200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters called the Vaults are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind – and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them.”

The cast includes Yellowjackets’ Ella Purnell as our protagonist Lucy, Twin Peaks‘ Kyle MacLachlan as her father and Vault overseer, Aaron Moten as Maximus, a squire of the Brotherhood of Steel, Walton Goggins as The Ghoul aka Cooper Howard, a Red Skull-looking gunslinger and bounty hunter who has been alive since before the bombs fell, and more. Lionsgate Confirms A TWILIGHT Animated Series

twilight new moon film poster - lionsgate adapting twilight animated series

First they came for Harry Potter, and now it’s Twilight. Variety reports that Lionsgate Television is shopping a planned animated Twilight series, based on Stephenie Meyer’s book series and the popular movie franchise that launched Kristen Stewart’ and Robert Pattinson’s careers.

Lionsgate’s vice chairman, Michael Burns, teased: “We’re going to go out with the Twilight series, an animated series, I think there’ll be a lot of interest in that.” It was first announced back in 2023 that Lionsgate was looking into bringing the vampire-werewolf-human series to the small screen, but no details had been discussed at the time.

There were four Twilight novels published between 2005 and 2008. In 2015, Meyer released Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined, which gender-swapped the two main characters, Bella and Edward. Meyer later published Midnight Sun in 2020, which told the story of the first book from Edward’s point of view instead of Bella’s. The film franchise, meanwhile, was comprised of five films (the last book, Breaking Dawn, was split into two movies) and released between 2008 and 2012.

Props to Meyer for getting the most bang for her buck on these books, though we have to question whether Twilight can really be adapted for 2024 audiences. A large part of what makes the Twilight movies cult classics are their unintentional campy quality, which would be hard to authentically replicate in a contemporary series.

INFESTED (VERMINES) Trailer Will Give You Nightmares

infested vermines trailer lands at shudder

Arachnophobes (read = in this case, people with common sense), look away now, because the first trailer for Sébastien Vaniček’s Infested (Vermines) has crawled to screens. The nightmarish trailer for this upcoming spider horror movie comes courtesy of Shudder, ahead of an April 26th, 2024 release date.

You might remember our mentioning this film recently, when news emerged that Vaniček had been selected to direct the next instalment in the Evil Dead film franchise. Well, Infested is the film that landed him this hot gig.

Infested (Vermines) made its North American premiere at Fantastic Fest recently, having debuted at Venice Film Festival, and will release on Shudder from April 26th. The French-Moroccan film follows “Kaleb, who’s about to turn 30 and has never been lonelier. He’s fighting with his sister over a matter of inheritance and has cut ties with his best friend. Passionate about exotic animals, he comes home one day with a venomous spider and accidentally let it slip away.” It isn’t long before the residents of a rundown French apartment building are forced to battle against an army of deadly, rapidly reproducing spiders.

Théo Christine, Finnegan Oldfield, Jérôme Niel, Sofia Lesaffre and Lisa Nyarko star. Florent Bernard and Sébastien Vaniček wrote the screenplay.

COMMUNITY Movie To Shoot This Year, Says Joel McHale

community movie in the works, to begin filming in 2024

The much-hinted to and -joked about Community movie is to begin production this year, says star Joel McHale. Speaking to Deadline, McHale said that while he hasn’t yet read the script for the movie sequel to the hit TV series Community, he can share some story details: “We go to the centre of the earth.”

Joking aside, co-star Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) told The Hollywood Reporter in a prior interview that the film centres on “a college reunion”. Danny Pudi’s Abed Nadir is now “this big director” and the sequel film fans will see is “his magnum opus”.

McHale also shared his belief that the Community movie will begin shooting later this year. “I really do think it’s happening this year… It’s basically working around Donald’s schedule.”

Peacock officially announced the Community movie back in 2022, enlisting show creator Dan Harmon and Andrew Guest to pen the script. In addition to McHale and Glover, cast members set to return for the movie include Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong, and Yvette Nicole Brown.

The road to “six seasons and a movie!” looks like it’s finally coming to an end… stay tuned for updates as we hear them.

Lindsay Lohan And Jamie Lee Curtis Confirmed For FREAKY FRIDAY Sequel

lindsay lohan confirms a freaky friday sequel film with jamie lee curtis returning

Rumours of a Freaky Friday sequel have been circulating for years, and it appears that a follow-up starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis is finally in the works. Lohan recently confirmed that a sequel to the iconic 2003 body-swap comedy is happening.

When asked by presenter Andy Cohen about the timeline for production, the ex-Disney star replied: “I won’t say that yet. I don’t want to say too much.” However, she did state that “we are both excited. I’m gonna speak for Jamie.”

Jamie Lee Curtis had previously spoken on the possibility of a Freaky Friday sequel, going as far as to suggest a new story for her character: “Let me be the grandma, let me be the old grandma who switches places, so then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma who’s still happy with Mark Harmon in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon… I would like to see Lindsay be the hot grandma, and I would like to see me try to deal with toddlers today. I want to be a helicopter parent in today’s world.”

The 2003 film that starred Lohan, Curtis, and Harmon was the third film adaptation of the 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers, following the 1976 film starring Barbara Harris and a very young Jodie Foster, and a 1995 TV movie with Shelly Long and Gaby Hoffmann. Disney Channel also adapted Freaky Friday again since, turning it into a musical in 2018 starring Cozi Zuehlsdorff and Heidi Blickenstaff.

Disney Reveals First Look At TRON: ARES

first look at tron: ares film

Disney has revealed the first image from Tron: Ares, the third film in the Tron cyber-tech adventure movie franchise, which finally went into production in January.

Starring Jared Leto, the film follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, who is sent from the digital into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.

The original Tron released in 1982 and starred Jeff Bridges as a video game designer who is transported inside his own creation and teams up with Tron, a security program. The 2010 sequel brought back Bridges but took on a generational approach to the story by bringing in new characters. Tron: Ares, however, will focus on the emergence of a sentient program in the human world.

The project is directed by Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) from a script by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne. Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson also star.

In a statement accompanying the release of the first look Tron still, Rønning said, “I’m excited to be part of the TRON franchise and bring this new film to fans around the world. ‘TRON: Ares’ builds upon the legacy of cutting-edge design, technology and storytelling. Now more than ever, it feels like the right time to return to the Grid.”

Tron: Ares is due to release sometime in 2025. Check out the first-look image below:
