The field of writers being considered to adapt JK Rowling’s Harry Potter books into a live-action series for Max is narrowing, down now to just three names: according to sources at Deadline, they are Francesca Gardiner, Tom Moran, and Kathleen Jordan.

The three are expected to finesse their pitches over the next couple of months, with a final decision on who will fill the role expected to be announced in June. The Harry Potter series is set to premiere in 2026.

Francesca Gardiner was a consulting producer on seasons 3 and 4 of Succession. Previously, she was an exec producer and writer on the fantastic BBC and HBO adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials, as was co-exec producer on Killing Eve. She has also written for shows like The Man in the High Castle and sci-fi fantasy The Rook.

Tom Moran created the Amazon series The Devil’s Hour, a creepy thriller starring Peter Capaldi, as well as having worked on Amazon sci-fi series The Feed.

Lastly, Kathleen Jordan created the short-lived Netflix series Teenage Bounty Hunters. She also created the series The Decameron, an upcoming comedy/history drama.

Who will make it out of Max’s Goblet of Fire-like trials? Stay tuned to find out who will win the coveted job as a Harry Potter series writer.
