Jeremy Allen White To Play Jabba the Hutt’s Son

jeremy allen white to voice rotta the hutt

Lucasfilm has cast the Emmy-winning star of The Bear, Jeremy Allen White, in The Mandalorian & Grogu. Reports state the actor will voice Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba the Hutt, a character who originated in animation with 2008’s The Clone Wars movie/

Jon Favreau is directing this next film in the Star Wars universe from a screenplay he wrote with Dave Filoni (Ahsoka), which is presently set to bow on May 22nd, 2026. The film spins off from his Disney+ series The Mandalorian, which stars Pedro Pascal as the titular Mandalorian and caretaker for Grogu, aka Baby Yoda; Pascal will return to star. Jeremy Allen White also joins Sigourney Weaver in an undisclosed role.

Mandalorian & Grogu will be the first Star Wars feature since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

With plot details still under wraps for the feature, Jeremy Allen White’s casting as Rotta the Hutt provides a first glimpse at what we might expect from Favreau’s film. Since the recent spin-off series The Book of Boba Fett (set around the same time as The Mandalorian) revealed that Jabba’s death at Princess Leia’s hands left a power vacuum among the organised crime bosses on Tatooine, it seems likely that with Jabba’s son involved in the new film, Temuera Morrison’s Boba Fett and Ming-Na Wen’s Fennec Shand could show up as well.

The Trailer For 28 YEARS LATER Rises!

still from 28 years later trailer

The first official trailer for 28 Years Later is finally here! Danny Boyle is back in the director’s chair for the long-anticipated sequela new instalment in his 28 Days Later horror franchise intended to launch a brand new trilogy of films for Sony.

In the clip, we see a brief but gory recap of what happened 10,228 days earlier, as a zombie infestation overruns the UK. “Days became weeks” and “weeks became years” as the teaser homes in on a remote island of survivors who have regressed to a simpler way of living. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.

The first duo of movies in this new trilogy have already been filmed, with Boyle directing the first and Candyman’s Nia DaCosta directing the second. The film’s cast includes Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, and Ralph Fiennes.

Fiennes recently teased the plot in an interview, saying: “Britain is 28 years into this terrible plague of infected people who are violent, rabid humans with a few pockets of uninfected communities. And it centres on a young boy who wants to find a doctor to help his dying mother. He leads his mother through this beautiful northern English terrain. But of course, around them hiding in forests and hills and woods are the infected. But he finds a doctor who is a man we might thing is going to be weird and odd, but actually is a force for good.”

Alex Garland returns to write the screenplay. Cillian Murphy, who starred in the first film at the beginning of his career, is executive producing and returns to star.

Amazon Studios and Warhammer collaboration to go ahead

cavill warhammer

Fans of the Grim Dark world of Warhammer 40,000 will be delighted to learn that a deal between Amazon Studios and Games Workshop has been finalised. Games Workshop is famously protective of its intricate IP, and the Nottingham-based games company confirmed today that it has ‘nailed down’ creative guidelines.

The Witcher star Henry Cavill has also taken to social media to express his delight at the development; his involvement in the project has been known for some time. Cavill stated on his Instagram account, “My incredible team and I, alongside the brilliant minds at Games Workshop, have been working away in concept rooms, breaking down approaches to the enormity and magnificence of the Warhammer world. Together, we’ve been sifting through the plethora of incredible characters and poring over old tomes and texts. Our combined efforts have led us to a fantastic place to start our Universe, which has been agreed upon by those up on high at both Amazon and Games Workshop.”

Cavill is a lifelong fan of the Warhammer 40,000 miniatures wargame and franchise. We understand he collects Adeptus Custodes, who are an elite cadre of genetically engineered transhuman women and men who guard the Emperor of Mankind. He is welcome to come to Manchester to face STARBURST’s own collection of ‘Manchester bee’-themed Tyranids at any time.

Warhammer 40,000 is mainly a tabletop wargame (misreported elsewhere as a D&D-style game.) It has spawned a great many video games, miniature skirmish games, card games and yes, even the odd TTRPG. It’s mostly known for its ‘grim dark’ aesthetic, a ‘dark ages in space’ feel and is a heady blend of fantasy tropes and science fiction dystopia.  Games Workshop has produced its own animated features in recent years, such as The Tithes and a spin-off story of the popular Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Two video game features in Amazon Prime TV’s new show, Secret Level.

DAGGERHEART Cover Reveal

Darrington Press, the publishing arm of Critical Role, have revealed the cover for Daggerheart, their forthcoming narrative-driven tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG), which will come out in early 2025.

Touted as a game that could be as big as Dungeons & Dragons, Daggerheart uses cards and 12-sided dice to maximise narrative style play, a form of TTRPG that encourages improvisation and creativity over strategy and rules memorisation.

Unveiled at PAX Unplugged, the artwork embodies the game’s sense of wonder and adventure, rich storytelling, and captivating world and characters awaiting players.

The standard Daggerheart Core Set comes as both a core rulebook and a box to hold cards, and their artwork connects together to form a dramatic diptych illustrated by Mat Wilma.

The limited edition box set artwork by Dominik Mayer graces the full wrap-around box as well as the core rulebook, the box of cards, AND a stunning exclusive GM screen.

Hallucinogenic Horror BLACK NOISE Casts Leads

aiden gillen as littlefinger in game of thrones, cast in black noise

Hallucinogenic horror Black Noise has found its lead stars in Aidan Gillen and Kate Phillips. The film, which hails from Blunt Pictures and NoW Films, will be directed by Simon Blake and produced by Colette Delaney-Smith.

Aidan Gillen, best known for his role as Littlefinger in Game of Thrones, plays Hector, the eldest member of the wealthy Livingstone family, returning for a memorial meal to celebrate his father’s life. Phillips, known for Peaky Blinders, plays Leda, a journalist attending the meal whose hidden intentions are to seek justice. Her plans soon appear to diverge with The Butler, however, who is out for revenge.

Also starring are Tom Mothersdale (Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light), Rebecca Calder (I May Destroy You), Michael Jibson (Last Night in Soho), Jeanie Hackman (The Death of Bunny Munro), and Whitstable Pearl (Acorn).

Principal photography on Black Noise will begin in Suffolk and London this month. Delaney-Smith describes the film as a “haunting, deeply unsettling story that turns into something ominous and disquieting until its savage and carnal climax.”

“Simon has created a rich and atmospheric visual style with an almost fetishistic detail around the food, nature, wardrobe, and the hallucinatory power of plant medicine,” she said. “Through this hallucinogenic lens, the evil sins of the past are exposed, and revenge is served up on a plate. We are delighted with our cast and cannot wait to make what we think will be uniquely individual horror.”

Thriller PANIC CAREFULLY Casts Elizabeth Olsen

elizabeth olsen to star in panic carefully thriller. still from the assessment.

WandaVision and MCU veteran Elizabeth Olsen is joining Julia Roberts in Warner Bros‘ upcoming thriller feature Panic Carefully. The movie is described as a paranoid thriller reminiscent of Silence of the Lambs. The film’s logline is currently under wraps however, so we don’t know much more than that.

Sam Esmail, best known for creating the Emmy-winning series Mr. Robot, is set to direct from a script he wrote, with Warner Bros. landing the package earlier this year following an intense bidding war. His most recent feature was the 2023 Netflix thriller Leave the World Behind, in which Roberts also starred opposite Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke.

Esmail produces with Chad Hamilton for Email Corp., alongside Roberts, Scott Stuber, Marisa Yeres Gill and Lisa Gillan. Kevin McCormick and Chrystal Li will also produce.

Olsen starred earlier this year in the Netflix drama His Three Daughters, and plays the lead role in the sci-fi thriller The Assessment. Other upcoming projects for the actress include the A24 sci-fi project Eternity, which also stars Miles Teller, Callum Turner, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, as well as the Highlands-based series Once There Were Wolves.

Production on Panic Carefully is expected to begin in January 2025, with a cinema release date to be announced.

News of casting Panic Carefully first broke courtesy of Deadline.

In the series, “Rhiannon Lewis doesn’t make much of an impression – people walk past her in the street without a second glance. Rhiannon is pushed over the edge and loses control. Suddenly the wallflower is gone, and in its place is a young woman capable of anything… Rhiannon’s life transforms as she steps into a new, intoxicating power, but can she keep her killer secret?”

SNOW WHITE Remake Drops Official Trailer

rachel zegler in official trailer for snow white live-action remake

Rachel Zegler stars as the titular Disney princess looking to rescue her Kingdom from the clutches of Gal Gadot’s Evil Queen in the official trailer for Snow White, the live-action remake of the 1937 classic.

In the trailer, running to the woods to escape her stepmother, Snow White meets her bizarre-looking, soon-to-be friends — Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy and Sneezy — as they offer her safety. But the young princess asks for their support instead. “The Queen stole everything from all of us. I’m going to need your help. It’s time to restore our Kingdom,” Zegler tells them, before leading them and some other woodland creatures in a revolution against her not-so-fair Queen.

The trailer also offers a first glace at Zegler’s performance of Waiting on a Wish, and of her facing the Evil Queen disguised as an old woman (thanks to some pretty horrendous CGI), offering her that legendary poisoned apple.

Also starring are Andrew Burnap, Ansu Kabia, Dujonna Gift, Martin Klebba, Colin Michael Carmichael, and Patrick Page in a voice role.

For better or worse — though from the looks of it, most likely the latter — the film releases to cinemas from March 21st, 2025. Watch the Snow White official trailer below:
