Hallucinogenic horror Black Noise has found its lead stars in Aidan Gillen and Kate Phillips. The film, which hails from Blunt Pictures and NoW Films, will be directed by Simon Blake and produced by Colette Delaney-Smith.
Aidan Gillen, best known for his role as Littlefinger in Game of Thrones, plays Hector, the eldest member of the wealthy Livingstone family, returning for a memorial meal to celebrate his father’s life. Phillips, known for Peaky Blinders, plays Leda, a journalist attending the meal whose hidden intentions are to seek justice. Her plans soon appear to diverge with The Butler, however, who is out for revenge.
Also starring are Tom Mothersdale (Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light), Rebecca Calder (I May Destroy You), Michael Jibson (Last Night in Soho), Jeanie Hackman (The Death of Bunny Munro), and Whitstable Pearl (Acorn).
Principal photography on Black Noise will begin in Suffolk and London this month. Delaney-Smith describes the film as a “haunting, deeply unsettling story that turns into something ominous and disquieting until its savage and carnal climax.”
“Simon has created a rich and atmospheric visual style with an almost fetishistic detail around the food, nature, wardrobe, and the hallucinatory power of plant medicine,” she said. “Through this hallucinogenic lens, the evil sins of the past are exposed, and revenge is served up on a plate. We are delighted with our cast and cannot wait to make what we think will be uniquely individual horror.”
