Warner Bros. has rejected director Patty Jenkins’ proposed Wonder Woman 3 film, THR reports. The apparent cancellation comes as new DC Studio CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran have reportedly completed their initial plan for the future of DC Studios.

Wonder Woman 3 is now “not moving forward and is considered dead in its current incarnation,” sources state, because Jenkins’ planned treatment does not fit in with the new direction the studio aims to take. No decisions have been made about next steps.

The Gal Gadot-starrer is far from the only project that could be facing the axe at DC, though we’re sure to find out more in the next few days ahead of Gunn and Safran’s meeting with WBD CEO David Zaslav.

We could be seeing the end of the Snyderverse, aka the string of films and Justice League heroes cast by Zack Snyder – that would include Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Henry Cavill’s Superman (that would mean saying goodbye to Man of Steel sequel in active development at WB), and even Ben Affleck’s Batman, though his anticipated roles only comprise cameos.

Also unlikely to return is Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam, as reports state the blockbuster will be lucky to break even, let alone make a profit – which makes a sequel even more improbable.

Aquaman and the Lost City, which is due out on December 25th, 2023, is expected to be the final movie released by DC’s ‘old regime’. Until then, there’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods out on March 17th, 2023; The Flash on June 23rd, 2023; and Blue Beetle on August 18th, 2023.
