Queen & Slim and After Yang star Jodie Turner-Smith is finalising a deal to join Amandla Stenberg in the upcoming Disney+ series Star Wars: The Acolyte, Deadline reports.

Until now, Stenberg was the only confirmed cast member for the upcoming project. Details about the characters are being kept quiet.

The Acolyte is said to be a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era – which would place it some fifty years prior to the events of The Phantom Menace. In the Star Wars universe, an acolyte can refer to individuals with force abilities who learn from a more experienced Sith Lord.

The series is expected to begin production in London towards the end of autumn, with Russian Doll co-creator Leslye Headland at the helm. No word yet on any potential release date.

Until then, Turner-Smith will soon be seen opposite Justin H. Min and Colin Farrell in Koganada’s After Yang, releasing later this month. She’ll also star in Adam Sandler’s Murder Mystery 2, opposite Adam Driver in the Venice Festival film White Noise from director Noah Baumbach, and in the Apple TV+ comedy drama Bad Monkey.
