Revered production and distribution company A24 has unveiled the first trailer for its supernatural horror-thriller Talk to Me, which they acquired out of Sundance Festival’s Midnight Section after its premiere received rave reviews.

Talk to Me is the feature directorial debut of Australian twin brothers Danny and Michael Philippou, and will release to cinemas on July 28th. Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman wrote the script about a group of friends who discover how to conjure spirits using an embalmed hand, and become hooked on the new thrill.

Per the synopsis, Mia (Sophie Wilde) is determined to get a piece of the otherworldly action in order to be distracted on the eve of her mother’s death. But when her group of friends gathers for another unruly séance with the mysterious embalmed hand that promises a direct line to the spirits, they’re unprepared for the consequences of bending the rules through prolonged contact. As the boundary between worlds collapses and disturbing supernatural visions increasingly haunt Mia, she rushes to undo the horrific damage before it’s irreversible.

Miranda Otto, Alexandra Jensen, Joe Bird, Otis Dhanji, Zoe Terakes and Chris Alosio also star.

A24 will next release Ari Aster’s horror comedy Beau Is Afraid, starring Joaquin Phoenix, on May 19th for UK audiences.
