MARSHMALLOW Horror Film Debuts Trailer

Marshmallow has released its first trailer, promising a summer camp nightmare perfect for horror fans. Director Daniel DelPurgatorio makes his feature directorial debut from a script by Black Friday’s Andy Greskoviak. The indie film is set for a cinema release on April 11th and stars Giorgia Whigham, Alysia Reiner, and Corbin Bernsen.

Marshmallow centres on Morgan (played by Kue Lawrence), a timid and introverted 12-year-old suffering from nightmares who heads to a secluded summer camp. Morgan realises that a spooky campfire story about the camp has come to life as a mysterious figure starts to stalk the campers, forcing the boy and his new friends to embark on a treacherous journey and uncover a sinister reality buried beneath the surface. Little do they know that the truth harbours a secret that will test their resilience and unravel the very fabric of their reality.

“There used to be cabins all throughout these woods,” Whigham’s character says in the trailer. “One of those cabins belonged to a doctor. He had this huge cellar in the basement. If you stay up too late or if you leave your cabin past curfew, you just might see the doctor.”

Princess Diana To Tour Australia

Linus Karp’s hit comedy show, Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story, will commence an Australian tour, starting at the Adelaide Fringe.  The tour, which starts this week in Adelaide and ends in March in Brisbane, will also feature Sarah Jane Adventures star Rob Madge as the voice of Mother Teresa.

Rob Madge, who played Oscar, aka Krislok, in the Doctor Who spin-off show,  is better known for his hit show My Son’s A Queer But What Can You Do?, which we at STARBURST really liked.  

Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story will also feature pre-show performances by Drag Race UK star Pixie Polite and specially invited drag artists in each city.

GODZILLA X KONG Sequel Casts Jack O’Connell

Jack O’Connell, best known for his roles in Unbroken and SAS Rogue Heroes, has been tapped to star in the next instalment of Legendary’s MonsterVerse franchise, the follow up to Godzilla x Kong.

He joins the previously announced Kaitlyn Dever and Dan Stevens, who will reprise his role as the kaiju expert Trapper from The New Empire. O’Connell will reportedly play Dever’s brother in the film.

Plot details are being kept deep under the sea, but Legendary has said the story will feature “several new human characters alongside the beloved and iconic Titans Godzilla and Kong as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat.” 

Director Grant Sputore, best known for I Am Mother, is helming the film from a script by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse writer Dave Callaham. Callaham also helped establish the MonsterVerse with a story credit on 2014’s Godzilla.

This is already lining up to be a busy year for Jack O’Connell, who will next be seen in Ryan Coogler’s vampire thriller Sinners, and in Danny Boyle’s long-awaited zombie apocalypse film, 28 Years Later.

The yet-untitled Godzilla x Kong follow up hasn’t announced a release date, but stay tuned for updates as we hear them.

Daniel Craig Drops Out Of SGT. ROCK

Daniel Craig is no longer attached to make his DC Comics debut in Sgt. Rock, the feature project that would have reunited him with his Queer director Luca Guadagnino. The feature hails from a script by Justin Kuritzkes, who also served as screenwriter on Challengers and Queer. Reasons for Craig’s departure are still unconfirmed.

Plot details for Sgt. Rock are still unknown. The character is a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. army who leads his unit, Easy Company, through the European theatre of World War II. He first appeared in comics in 1959, created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert. Variety reports that DC Studios’ co-chiefs, James Gunn and Peter Safran, are excited about the film as a straightforward war picture.

Craig’s upcoming projects include Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which would see him return to the role of private investigator Benoit Blanc. He’s also attached to star opposite Charlize Theron in Two for the Money for director Justin Lin. Guadagnino’s next film to hit cinemas will be the Julia Roberts thriller After the Hunt. He’s also attached to direct a new adaptation of American Psycho with Austin Butler, and an adaptation of the gay romance Separate Rooms with Josh O’Connor.

DC Studios is still hoping to begin filming this summer, so the hunt to replace Daniel Craig is already on the way.

Mia Goth Comes Aboard THE ODYSSEY

Scream Queen Mia Goth is the latest star to board Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of the Homer epic, The Odyssey.

The Pearl and MaXXXine star joins a packed cast that includes Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal and Benny Safdie. The ensemble also includes Himesh Patel, Elliot Page, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia and Will Yun Lee.

The feature project is an adaptation of the Greek Epic The Odyssey, by Homer. Universal has described the adaptation as a “mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new Imax film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to Imax film screens for the first time.”

The Odyssey tells of the Greek hero and King of Ithaca, Odysseus, and his torturous, decade-long journey home after the Trojan War. Along the way, he and his crew face sea creatures, sirens, witches, and monsters, and must contend with the interference of gods. Back home, due to his long absence, he is presumed dead, leaving his wife Penelope and son Telemachus to contend with a group of suitors competing for Penelope’s hand in marriage.

Aside from Matt Damon, it is still unknown who anyone, including Mia Goth, will play in the film.

The Odyssey is due to release in cinemas on July 17th, 2026.

Anticipation is building for Christopher Nolan’s next epic, with a first-look image of Matt Damon playing Odysseus in the filmmaker’s adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey.

Matt Damon leads a stacked cast that includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal and Benny Safdie. The ensemble also includes Himesh Patel, Elliot Page, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia and Will Yun Lee.

THE DOG STARS Adds Margaret Qualley And Others To Cast

Ridley Scott‘s thriller feature The Dog Stars continues to announce its cast list, following news that Jacob Elordi would replace Paul Mescal in the lead role. Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin and Guy Pearce are in final talks to star in the 20th Century Studios film, an adaptation of Peter Heller’s 2012 apocalyptic novel written by Mark L. Smith and Christopher Wilkinson.

Set in Colorado after the world’s population has been ravaged by a pandemic, The Dog Stars centres on a civilian pilot living on an abandoned airbase with his dog and an ex-Marine he has befriended. When a mysterious transmission comes through on the radio while he is flying his 1956 Cessna, it sparks a hunt for the provenance of the sound in hopes of a better life.

Margaret Qualley earned well-deserved praise for her role in last year’s body horror The Substance, in which she starred opposite Demi Moore, and can be seen later this year in Honey Don’t! and Happy Gilmore 2. Brolin’s next films include Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and Edgar Wright’s remake of The Running Man. Meanwhile, Pearce is nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his role in The Brutalist.

HOUSE OF NIGHT Novels To Receive Film Adaptation

A film adaptation of the bestselling YA vampire fantasy, 12-book series House of Night is in the works. Cinematographer Rain Li (Paris, Je T’aime, Paranoid Park) will direct from a script she co-wrote with P.C. Cast, who authored the novels with her daughter, Kristin Cast.

The story follows Zoey Redbird, a 16-year-old girl who is “marked” and thus becomes a fledgling vampyre. Her new designation requires her to attend the House of Night boarding school in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where the marked learn to endure their transformation. As she navigates the highs and lows of teenage romance, friendships, and her transformation, Zoey discovers she possesses extraordinary gifts that make her both revered and feared in a vampyre world steeped in magic.

Davis Films’ Victor Hadida, best known for producing Resident Evil and The Crow, will produce the project alongside Hassell Free Productions’ Molly Hassell.

“I have long loved the unique universe that P.C. and Kristin have created in their beloved books,” said director Li. “I am so excited to cinematically realize their vision for new audiences as well as the millions of avid followers of the books.”

“I’ve been working closely with Molly and Rain to bring this film to fruition, and could not be more proud of the work they have done in respecting our universe,” Cast added. “Our fans have been waiting many years to see their beloved characters and their journeys come to the screen, and we are beyond excited at what they will see.”

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER Gets Renewed For Season 3

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has been renewed for a third season, which will surprise no one considering the major cliffhangers on which season 2 ended.

(Spoiler ahead) The second season ended with Sauron (Charlie Vickers) amassing an army of orcs and defeating the elves at their stronghold, Eregion. However, the elves and dwarves stand united against the dark lord, and they have their own powerful rings to stand against him in season 3.

This new season is expected to begin filming this spring. “‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ continues to captivate audiences worldwide, and we’re thrilled that a third season is underway,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios. “The creative team has an extraordinary vision of what’s to come with stories that have left us enchanted and enthralled. We look forward to continuing this epic journey, for our global customers, delving even deeper into the legendary tales that shaped Middle-earth.”

Charlotte Brändström, who was co-executive producer and directed multiple episodes in both seasons, will continue as exec producer and director for this third season. Sanaa Hamri will also return to direct, with director Stefan Schwartz also joining the series.

Twilight Star To Star In Very Meta TAYLOR LAUTNER: WEREWOLF HUNTER Series

Taylor Lautner is set to star in a very self-aware TV series, which he will also executive produce for Amazon MGM Studios, titled Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter. The project was brought to Amazon by Tornante, the studio behind the beloved series BoJack Horseman. Daisy Gardner will serve as creator and showrunner, while Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will serve as directors and exec producers.

The official logline, per a Variety exclusive, states: “After wrapping the final ‘Twilight’ film, Taylor Lautner vanished from the spotlight. Fans speculated, tabloids theorized—but the truth is wilder than fiction. Taylor wasn’t just taking a mental health break. He was preparing for his real calling…Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter. Playing himself, Taylor is drawn into a secret society of werewolf trackers who need his unique expertise. As he navigates his double life—Hollywood actor by day, supernatural warrior by night—Taylor must wrestle with the ultimate irony: fighting the very creatures that made him famous. Between saving the world, reviving his career, and falling in love, he faces the ultimate question—what happens when your biggest role becomes your greatest enemy?”

Gardner is known for writing on critically acclaimed shows like 30 Rock, Silicon Valley, Modern Family, South Park, and The Goldbergs. Radio Silence’s most recent credits include Scream and Scream VI, as well as Abigail and Ready or Not.
