Drawing inspiration from genre staples like [REC] and V/H/S, The Last Cabin stands at the crossroads between found footage, survival horror, and home invasion. In the film, a film crew finds themselves trapped in a remote cabin and stalked by three masked men who know the isolated forest like the back of their hands.
“We set out to make horror feel real and unsettling,” said Brendan Rudnicki. “Isolated and exposed, you’re stalked by something relentless, every sound causing anxiety. The Last Cabin dives into that dirty, clawing fear, where surviving’s all you’ve got left.”

Brendan Rudnicki is President and CEO of DBS Films, which boasts multiple top releases on streaming platforms such as Tubi, Vudu, and Apple TV. Two of our favourite genre filmmakers, John Carpenter and Bong Joon-ho, have agreed to collaborate on one of the South Korean director’s upcoming projects, which he says will be a horror film.
Bong, who is currently promoting his new sci-fi film Mickey 17, shared the stage with Carpenter during a special 4K restoration screening of the latter’s 1982 horror classic, The Thing.
At a post-screening Q&A conducted by Bong, via his interpreter, he said: “So you’ve created a lot of scores for your films and most of them were done by yourself. Would you be interested in doing music for another film?”
“My plan is for my next, next movie –” he tried to continue, but before he could add anything further, Carpenter interjected to say: “I wanna do your score.” The two icons shook on the agreement.
Details on this horror project are still vague. In 2021, Bong stated of his two future projects: “The Korean film is located in Seoul and has unique elements of horror and action. It’s difficult to define the genre of my films. The English project is a drama film based on a true event that happened in 2016. Of course, I won’t know until I finish the script, but it has to be set half in the UK and half in the US.”
As well as directing his own films, John Carpenter has also composed several iconic soundtracks for his movies such as Escape from New York, Assault on Precinct 13, Big Trouble in Little China and six Halloween films.
Production is underway on busy UK indie Shogun Films’ new horror movie Harbinger with James Crow (Nemesis) in the director’s chair and actor Tony Sands, best known as Tom in cult CBBC drama Moondial, in one of the lead roles. He was also one of the stars of the short film Echoes of the Passed, which won a STARBURST Fantasy Award in 2018.
HARBINGER centres on Julia (Jeanine Nerissa Sothcott – Knightfall), the sole survivor of infamous Satanic serial killer Henry Decker (Peter Woodward, Babylon 5), who is convinced to take part in a TV ghost show fronted by Neal (Tony Sands) filmed at the late Decker’s former home by TV producer Mike (Gary Webster, Minder). Once there, they uncover an ominous carnival fortune-telling machine, known as The Harbinger, which dispenses murderous fates, foretold via fatal Tarot cards, as Decker plots a sinister return to life.
Rounding out the cast are Johnny Palmiero (Doctor Plague), Joseph Emms (Knightfall), Anna Arthur (The Last Screenwriter) and Maisie Gee (Through My Eyes).
The screenplay is by Simon Cluett (We Still Kill the Old Way, Age of Kill), from a story by Harry Boxley. Jonathan Sothcott produces. Director of Photography is Andrew Robinson. The Harbinger was designed by Stuart Webb. Executive Producers include Jamie McLeod Ross and Charlie McDougall for Empire Studios, as well as Keith Reilly. Robert Geoffrey Hughes and Chris Hurst are writing the score. Harbinger is being filmed on location in South East England.
Producer Jonathan Sothcott, who also casts the Shogun productions, said: “Moondial absolutely enraptured me as a kid, it was brilliantly made and acted and is right up there with The Tripods and The Box of Delights in terms of early influences. I read the book – with Tony on the cover! – and have revisited it many times over the years, and boy does it stand up! Tony’s haunting performance stayed with me, so the chance to work together as adults was too good to miss, and now we are making a lot of horror movies. Harbinger presented the perfect opportunity. As the very real psychic medium at the heart of the action, Tony delivers a brilliant performance.”
Tony Sands added, “It was an absolute honour to be involved in Harbinger. A truly wonderful cast and crew made it an enjoyable experience, and finally getting to work with Jonathan was a pleasure. I love the character of Neal, had a lot of fun playing him. I really think we have a great film here, Shogun pulled in a brilliant cast who were amazing to watch on set. I can’t wait for everyone to lay their eyes on this!”

Cult video game Undertale is celebrating its first decade with a one-night-only 25-piece orchestral concert.
The Determination Symphony will be performed at the Eventim Apollo, London, England, on 22 June 2025. This is a musical journey following the fall into the underground, and will lead the audience through the Ruins, Snowdin, Waterfall, Hotland, and more.
Toby Fox’s Undertale was officially released back in 2015 (though demos came out in 2013). It’s considered by most fans and critics to be a modern classic. The 8-bit style game follows a child’s journey through a whimsical fantasy place called the Underground, a secret part of the Earth filled with monsters. It’s noted for its complex themes, replayability, storyline and distinct soundtrack.

The poster for the I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel has been unveiled.
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, best known for helming the dark comedy Do Revenge, is directing the new instalment in the slasher franchise for Sony from a screenplay she co-wrote with Sam Lensky, from an original script by Leah McKendrick. Neal Moritz, who produced the original, is back to produce this reboot. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are reprising their roles from the ’90s.
Billy Campbell, Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Haur-King, Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols, and Gabbriettealso star.
The cult classic starred Love Hewitt, Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe. It was written by Scream‘s Kevin Williamson and based on the 1973 novel of the same name by author Lois Duncan. The film followed four friends who, after a night of heavy partying, accidentally ran over and killed a man. When they decide to dump his body to conceal their secret, they’re unaware that the following year will see consequences knocking at their doors.
In this year’s new movie, “When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer…and is hell-bent on revenge.
“As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.”
Laia Costa joins Jack Reynor in The Mummy, a new adaptation from writer and director Lee Cronin. The horror feature hails from New Line Cinema and producers Atomic Monster and Blumhouse. Doppelgängers, Cronin’s own banner, who previously madeEvil Dead Rise for New Line, is also producing.
Plot details are being kept wrapped up tight, but the rumour is that Costa and Reynor are playing a married couple who, along with their daughter, run into some supernatural, sinister forces. In a previous interview, Cronin told The Hollywood Reporter that his film “will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before. I’m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening.”
Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are co-financing the film. Producing are James Wan, Jason Blum and John Keville. Executive producing are Michael Clear, Judson Scott and Macdara Kelleher. Alayna Glasthal is overseeing the project for Atomic Monster.
Laia Costa is best known for her performance in 2015 German crime thriller Victoria, for which she won several awards. Her other credits include Newness, Life Itself, Lullaby, and Amazon’s big-budget fantasy series Wheel of Time. Cronin, meanwhile, is known for directing horror films such as The Hole in the Ground and Evil Dead Rise.
This The Mummy film will be the eleventh feature film in the franchise, including the Universal Classic Monsters continuity, the Stephen Sommers series, and the Dark Universe.
Production on The Mummy begins next week in Ireland. The film is set to be released on April 17th, 2026.
During a frustrating, lacklustre, yet near-five-and-a-half hour livestream, Marvel Studios unveiled its cast for the re-assembled Avengers: Doomsday. Via a long line of chairs, it revealed a mix of MCU veterans, mainstays, as well as actors from 20th Century Fox’s X-Men universe and upcoming stars of Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Sources report that Marvel isn’t done with revealing the entire cast. The Russo brothers, as previously announced, are directing the feature.
Avengers: Doomsday has a release date of May 1st, 2026, while the follow-up Avengers: Secret Wars is due on May 7th, 2027.
It’s been 16 years since the shocking murder of Harry Potter actor Rob Knox. The documentary about the life of Rob and the tragic knife crime that ended a promising career, (K)nox: The Rob Knox Story has recently been screened in London with a new director’s cut in an event hosted by podcast Stark Raving Cinema.
A mini-doc has been released covering that event while shedding light on the ever-worrying state of knife crime in the UK. It features words from Rob’s family, as well as legendary actor Ray Winstone, composer Simon Boswell, actor Nicholas Vince, director/actor Sean Cronin and many more.
Director and childhood friend of Rob, Aaron Truss, has added back footage to the documentary, making it even more poignant. Stark Raving Cinema’s Jake West and Paul McEvoy produce the short documentary, which will raise awareness of the award-winning main film.
The planned Street Fighter movie from Legendary has been removed from Sony Pictures’ theatrical release calendar, having previously been scheduled for March 20th, 2026. Based on the popular video game franchise, the project has not yet announced its cast.
Kitao Sakurai, who directed Bad Trip, was set to direct the video game adaptation. Directors Danny and Michael Philippou, best known for Talk to Me, had been attached to a previous version of the project.
The Street Fighter franchise began as an arcade fighting game in 1987, followed by the very popular Street Fighter II in 1991. A feature adaptation was released in 1994 and starred Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raúl Juliá, and Ming-Na Wen. In that adaptation, Colonel William Guile and his mixed-bag army fight the tyrannical General Bison, whose vicious plans include turning a captive into a hideous mutant in order to aid his mega plan of ruling the world. In 2009, 20th Century Fox released Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.
It’s the latest in a long line of video game adaptations to emerge from Hollywood recently, with the recent successes of The Super Mario Bros. Movie and the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Warner Bros. and Legendary are also releasing A Minecraft Movie next month.
Saw XI has been officially removed from Lionsgate‘s release calendar, after being slated to hit cinemas on September 26th. This follows Patrick Melton, a writer on the horror sequel, telling The Hollywood Reporter that there has been a lot of “inter-squabbling” between producers and Lionsgate.
Melton stated, “Saw XI may or may not be made, but we have a very timely story in it, and I hope it gets made just because of that.” He likened the topicality to that of Saw X, whichturned its relatively sympathetic eye towards Tobin Bell’s Jigsaw, as the story saw him, sick and desperate, travel to Mexico for a risky, experimental medical procedure he hopes will provide a miracle cure for his terminal cancer. Soon, however, he learns that the operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Obviously, Kramer then decides to return to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature way: with deranged, elaborate, deadly traps.
On Monday, Lionsgate shared a tongue-in-cheek statement from Billy the Puppet, the ventriloquist dummy used in the films by John Kramer, aka Jigsaw: “I’ve seen the rumors. They say it’s Game Over. You all should know me better than that. The game is never over.”
Instead, The Strangers: Chapter 2 has taken Saw XI’s release window. Madelaine Petsch, best known for her role on Riverdale, returns to the sequel after starring in The Strangers: Chapter 1.
