michael b. jordan in trailer for ryan coogler horror sinners

Black Panther and Creed helmer Ryan Coogler’s mysterious horror movie Sinners is on its way to our screens early next year, and Warner Bros. has finally released the official trailer for the Michael B. Jordan-starring flick.

Set in 1930s Jim Crow-era Louisiana, Sinners: Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers (Jordan in a dual role) return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back. After all, you keep dancing with the devil, one day he’s gonna follow you home…

Early reports of the project described it as a period vampire film, though the trailer leaves it unclear whether that remains the case.

Jordan is joined by an impressive cast, including Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee, Hawkeye), Jack O’Connell (Ferrari, the upcoming 28 Years Later), Wunmi Mosaku (Lovecraft Country, Deadpool & Wolverine), Jayme Lawson (The Woman King, The Batman) and Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods, The Harder They Fall).

Coogler writes and directs the Deep South-set horror, and co-produces the film under his banner, Proximity Media. Sinners is Jordan and Coogler’s fifth film together, following Fruitvale Station, Creed, and the two Black Panther films.

Sinners releases in cinemas from March 7th, 2025. Watch the trailer below:

The MCU’s Shadier Characters Unite In THUNDERBOLTS* Teaser Trailer

thunderbolts* teaser trailer character lineup

Brace yourselves, but here’s a teaser trailer for a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie that actually looks… well, good? The first trailer for Thunderbolts* (the asterisk is new but apparently mandatory) opens with Florence Pugh’s depressed assassin, Yelena Belova, expressing a lack of fulfilment in her present career. That slump does not last long though, as she is soon crossing paths with a collection of the franchise’s shadier characters.

“Everyone here has done bad things,” Yelena tells her fellow depressed antiheroes, including John Walker, aka U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ava Starr, aka Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and Antonia Dreykov, aka Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), as they are trapped by an unseen actor. The trailer also sees Lewis Pullman as Bob/Sentry, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian and of course, Sebastian Stan returning as Bucky Barnes. We also get a brief glimpse of Geraldine Viswanathan as Val’s assistant, Mel.

It’s a compelling teaser trailer, with lots of gritty, grounded action. Though it’s a full three-and-a-half-minute preview, very little plot is revealed, as the Marvel powers that be focus instead on introducing the new team’s roster.

– this one arrives hot on the heels of Captain America: Brave New World, hopefully a one-two punch of pacy political thrillers to kick-start Marvel’s year. Elsewhere, we see the return of Julia Louis Dreyfus’ meddling Val and a brief glimpse of Geraldine Viswanathan’s incoming assistant Mel. Oh, and was that Loki’s sceptre in a glass case? Given that this is a three-and-a-half-minute teaser, there’s relatively little plot here – the real focus is on introducing the members of the team. Check them out here in poster form:

Jack Schreier directs the flick. Thunderbolts* will arrive hot on the heels of Captain America: Brave New World, and will release May 2nd, 2025. It’s intended to be the last entry of Phase Five.

Starring Kelsey Asbille and Finn Wittrock and produced by Raimi, the film premieres on the streaming platform on October 25th.

In Don’t Move, a grieving woman (Asbille) hoping to find solace deep in an isolated forest encounters a stranger (Wittrock) who injects her with a paralytic agent. As the agent gradually takes over her body, she must run, hide and fight for her life before her entire nervous system shuts down.

Written by T.J. Cimfel and David White, the film was directed by Adam Schindler and Brian Netto. It was produced by Sam Raimi and Zainab Azizi of Raimi Productions, Christian Mercuri’s Capstone Studios, Alex Lebovici of Hammerstone Studios, and Sarah Sarandos.

Samara Weaving “All In” On READY OR NOT 2

samara weaving as grace le domas in ready or not

Scream queen Samara Weaving has said she’s “all in” to reprise her role as bridal final girl Grace Le Domas for a potential sequel to the 2019 horror hit Ready or Not, which elevated Radio Silence directing duo Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin to household names. The pair have since directed Scream, Scream VI – in which Weaving had a memorable cameo – and Abigail.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Weaving said: “I’m all in. I think we’re all in, I don’t know. I think we’re all in. I don’t know if we’ve had our blood handshake, but pretty much. We’ve done the spit handshake, but we haven’t cut each other’s hands and rubbed our blood together.”

A sequel to Ready or Not was announced earlier this year, though there’s no release date yet on the project. Adam Robitel, best known for helming Escape Room, has reportedly been tapped to direct the sequel.

“It’s getting figured out,” Gillett told EW in April. “That’s what we’ll say: Ready or Not 2 is getting figured out. What we can say is that there is a script that is an absolute f—ing banger of a sequel. And however it gets made, and in whatever capacity we are helping get it made, we are so excited that it’s happening. That movie is truly the love of our creative lives in a lot of ways.”

Back in 2019, Weaving teased that she thought authorities might not believe her when they came to investigate what had happened to the wealthy Le Domas family and found only corpses and exploded bodies. “I wonder what happens afterwards. Does she go to jail? Does she go to an asylum for psychiatric help? Does she inherit everything? I don’t know,” Weaving had said. “Or the police would say that she did it on purpose. I don’t know… Sitting in a jail cell for 90 minutes, just going insane.”

Samara Weaving will next be seen in survival horror Azrael.

Ella Purnell Stars In Trailer For Bloody Comedy SWEETPEA

ella purnell in trailer for sweetpea series on starz

Described as a deviously twisted, coming-of-rage story, STARZ has just released the full trailer for their six-part series Sweetpea, ahead of its October 10th premiere. Ella Purnell, known for her standout performances in Yellowjackets and Fallout, stars as Rhiannon, a quiet wallflower who develops a vengeful and intoxicatingly liberating taste for murder.

Per the logline, “Rhiannon Lewis doesn’t make much of an impression – people walk past her in the street without a second glance. She’s continually overlooked for a promotion at work, the guy she likes won’t commit, and her dad is really, really sick. Then everything in her life turns upside down. Rhiannon is pushed over the edge and loses control. Suddenly the wallflower is gone, and in its place is a young woman capable of anything… Rhiannon’s life transforms as she steps into a new, intoxicating power, but can she keep her killer secret?”

Starring opposite Purnell are Nicôle Lecky as Julia, Jon Pointing as Craig, Calam Lynch as AJ, Leah Harvey as Marina, Jeremy Swift as Norman and Dustin Demri-Burns as Jeff. Purnell also serves as executive producer of the series.

Sweetpea is adapted from C.J. Skuse’s cult novel of the same name, with a screenplay by Kirstie Swain, Krissie Ducker, Laura Jayne Tunbridge and Selina Lim. Ella Jones directs and serves as executive producer.

Adria Arjona To Star In Adam Wingard’s ONSLAUGHT

adria arjona in andor

Adria Arjona, who recently starred opposite Glen Powell in the Netflix comedy Hit Man and in Zoe Kravitz’s directorial debut Blink Twice, is reportedly in final talks to star in and executive produce Onslaught, the latest feature project from Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire director Adam Wingard.

According to THR, Arjona will play a mother who falls back on a particular set of skills in order to protect her loved ones after she runs afoul of a threat that has escaped a secret military base.

A24 is behind the action thriller, after winning the package at an auction earlier this year. Details for Onslaught are being kept top secret, but sources have described it as a “gonzo action horror thriller”. The project is expected to begin filming this autumn. Wingard writes the film with Simon Barrett, a frequent collaborator with whom he made the cult hits You’re Next and The Guest.

Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett will produce Onslaught under their Ryder Picture Company banner alongside A24, and Alexander Black for Lyrical Media. Wingard and manager Jeremy Platt will also produce, via their new company Breakaway Civilization, along with Barrett.

Adria Arjona will next be seen in the second season of Disney+’s Star Wars series Andor, which releases in 2025.

SIMS Movie Taps LOKI Helmer Kate Herron To Direct

sims characters

Just the latest in an endless line of random IPs waiting to be developed for the big screen (we literally just got news of John Cena starring in a live-action take on Mattel’s Matchbox toyline), comes news that a movie based on the video game franchise The Sims is well on its way. Amazon MGM Studios announced that the film would be helmed by Kate Herron, known for directing the Disney+ series Loki. She would direct the feature from a script she is co-writing with Briony Redman.

Herron is also known for working on Sex Education and the forthcoming second season of HBO’s The Last of Us. She and Redman also co-wrote an episode for the latest Doctor Who season.

In case you’ve never encountered a video game before, you’ll know that The Sims is a series of life simulation video games. The franchise has sold nearly 200 million copies worldwide, and is one of the best-selling video game series of all time. It is also part of the larger Sim series, started by SimCity in 1989. The games are largely sandbox games (in that there are no defined goals) and the player creates virtual people, placing them in houses and guiding them through day-to-day life.

No word yet on what a movie adaptation of such a game would look like, but stay tuned.
