Six years after the Saw franchise ended with its seventh instalment and so-called Final Chapter, The Tracking Board is now reporting that Lionsgate have hired Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger to pen a continuation of the Saw series, currently titled Saw: Legacy. Hands up who didn’t see this coming.

The previous horror credentials of the pair likely landed them the job, having jointly written the questionable remakes of Sorority Row and Piranha, while Stolberg also wrote and directed the actually quite decent The Attic (aka Crawlspace) and Goldfinger was responsible for the fake-trailer-turned-real-movie Clown.

No plot details have been released, but it’s unlikely to be much of a stretch to guess it will involve a diverse assortment of variably loathsome individuals trapped in a dankly lit murder house and killed one at a time by over-elaborate death traps in viscerally intense agony.

More as this develops.
