The first episode of Michael Bay’s upcoming pirate drama BLACK SAILS will be released online for free on 18th January, a week prior to its TV premiere on Starz. As well as the Starz VOD service, Facebook page and YouTube channel, the episode will also be available on Xbox Video, iTunes and Amazon.

Set 20 years prior to the events of TREASURE ISLAND, the series sees Captain Flint, Long John Silver and the crew of the Walrus branded as pirates by the English king. To survive the inevitable onslaught by royal forces sent to kill them, they must band together with other outlaws in order to survive.

With the likes of DA VINCI’S DEMONS and SPARTACUS, Starz are gaining a reputation for wantonly fusing fiction with historical reality, a practice continued here with a number of real life pirates also featured as principal characters alongside Robert Louis Stevenson’s creations.
