Poster Revealed for Horror Channel FrightFest

The official poster for this year’s Horror Channel FrightFest has been revealed. As has become the custom, it’s been designed by renown artist Graham Humphreys.
Drawing on several key iconic images, as Graham explains, “My image is an attempt to amalgamate the Gothic roots of horror with the ’70s Monster revival that saturated the US and UK, inspiring generations of filmmakers that created some of the most successful film franchises and oddities of the last 40 years. Universal monsters meets ’70s bubble gum pop. I also thought it would be fun to play with the idea of a FrightFest Phantom, the face behind the best in horror and added the scratches and dirt to make it look like old damaged film stock.

Horror Channel FrightFest takes place in London’s Leicester Square from August 24th-28th. For the full listings and more information, head over to the Horror Channel FrightFest website.  Individual tickets will go on sale on Saturday, July 29th from 9am.

Daniel Craig Returning as BOND

After yesterday’s news that the next James Bond movie has been booked in for a November 2019 release, now comes the expected news that Daniel Craig has indeed agreed to return as 007.

The New York Times broke the news, with them citing several sources close to the production as confirming that Craig is indeed returning for Bond 25.

Of course, Craig famously said he’d rather slit his wrists than return as Bond following Spectre, although earlier this year saw reports that MGM were waving a whopping $150 million at the actor for just two more movies. There’s no details just yet on whether this will be a one-picture return or whether the Layer Cake actor has been lured in for two films by the prospect of 150 million gold pieces.

Craig’s return has yet to be officially confirmed by the powers that be, but you’d have to think that MGM, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson would only move to announce a release date for Bond 25 if they’d locked in Craig. As ever, though, expect to hear more on all of this as it continues to develop.

At this stage, the still-to-be-titled Bond 25 is booked in for November 8th, 2019.

Jared Leto Lined up for BLOODSHOT

With Sony currently developing a Bloodshot adaptation, it appears that Jared Leto is the frontrunner to take the titular role.

Bloodshot is a Valiant comic tale from Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton, with the main character being a former soldier who was killed and brought back to life complete with a whole bunch of swanky technological upgrades. As per The Hollywood Reporter, Leto is now in the frame to take the lead role in the adap.

At present, Arrival’s Eric Heisserer has put together a script for the picture, with Halo 2’s Dave Wilson signed on to direct. The plan at one point in time was to develop cinematic Bloodshot and Harbinger (also another Valiant property) franchises before crossing them over, although all has gone a little quiet on that front lately.

As ever, expect more on this as we get it.

James Cameron Planning Three More TERMINATOR Movies

Jim, Jim, Jim. Really?

As well as currently working on four Avatar sequels, James Cameron has now revealed plans for three more Terminator movies.

The iconic director told News.com.au of his plans, explaining, “The question is, has the franchise run its course or can it be freshened up? So I am in discussions with David Ellison, who is the current rights holder globally for the Terminator franchise, and the rights in the US market revert to me under US copyright law in a year and a half. So he and I are talking about what we can do. Right now, we are leaning toward doing a three-film arc and reinventing it.”

*Sigh*

While we can all agree that both The Terminator and T2: Judgment Day are monumental, game-changing movies, the franchise has been operating under the laws of diminishing returns since then with the now-decent-in-hindsight Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, the plain awful Terminator: Salvation, and the let’s-spoil-our-huge-reveal-in-the-trailer Terminator: Genisys.

Of course, the notion of the Terminator rights reverting back to Cameron – the man behind those first two masterpieces – is always going to trigger some sense of optimism, but we can’t help but scratch our heads at already putting plans in place for three more films. Then again, we’re still scratching our heads at the need for four Avatar sequels.

As alluded to by Cameron, he will indeed see the rights to the franchise revert back to him in 2019, and he has previously discussed plans for bringing Arnold Schwarzenegger back for one more film. And just like that, off he goes, now talking about three more movies.

If and when things continue to develop, we’ll bring you more an all things Terminator as we get it.

WONDER WOMAN 2 Set for 2019 Release

We’ve known it was ‘a thing’ for a while now, but finally we now know when can expect to see the sequel to this year’s Wonder Woman hitting the big screen.

Despite director Patty Jenkins having yet to sign
on for the follow-up, Warner Brothers has moved to confirm Wonder Woman 2 for a December 13th, 2019 release. Of course, while
Jenkins’ return has yet to be confirmed, Gal Gadot is indeed be back as the
famed Amazon.

To date, Wonder Woman has amassed $780 million at the global box office,
with the film wowing fans and critics far more than any of the other DCEU outings to
date. As such, many are hoping that Wonder
Woman
will be a turning of the tide for The WB’s DC pictures. While we’d
absolutely love that to be the case, we’ll just have to see how things play out
from here for the DCEU and whether lessons really have been learned from Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad.

Wonder
Woman 2
is one of only a handful of DCEU movies
with a set release date at this stage, joining November’s Justice League and December 2018’s Aquaman as the only films out of the multitude of DC-driven efforts
to have a confirmed release date booked in.

Still to be given release dates in this
shared cinematic realm are The Flash,
Cyborg, The Batman, Green Lantern
Corps.
, Shazam!, Black Adam, Gotham City Sirens, Suicide
Squad 2
, Batgirl, Nightwing, Justice League Dark, and seemingly a Man of Steel sequel. And even now, we’re
still not entirely sure that we’ve not missed another one or two off that
extensive list…

As ever, expect more on Wonder Woman 2 as it continues to
develop. Up next for Gadot’s Diana is an appearance in the aforementioned Justice League this November.

Tom Felton Not Returning to THE FLASH as a Series Regular

In some news that’s sure to disappoint fans of The CW’s The Flash, Tom Felton won’t be returning as series regular for the show’s upcoming fourth season.

As per EW, Felton, who played Julian Albert in the Scarlet Speedster-centric series’ third year, will definitely not be back in a ‘series regular’ capacity for Season 4. Additionally, at this stage he’s yet to actually sign on to return even for some guest appearances. Of course, that doesn’t mean that the Harry Potter star won’t appear again at some point, although if he does then it will be in a drastically more restricted capacity than last season.

Time-wise, The Flash’s fourth season will start six months after the conclusion of Season 3 – with Barry Allen having gone off to become one with the Speed Force. Don’t let that fool you, mind, for Barry will be back in action sooner rather than later, with this new season’s ‘big bad’ being Neil Sandilands’ Thinker; a rogue who is a genius, telekinetic, mind-controlling sort.

The Flash returns to US screens on October 10th, with a UK return expected to follow shortly after.

THE EXORCIST Hopeful of Six More Seasons

While we were all happy to see FOX renew The Exorcist for a second season, the minds behind the show have far more plans for the series that just this second season.

Speaking to Screen Rant, creator Jeremy Slater has revealed that he’d like to get to at least six more seasons. As he explained, “You can’t tell a seven-year story about one family that just keeps getting possessed over and over again without the audience starting to hate you for putting one family through so much shit. So the idea is every year we’ll have a different case, we’ll have a different sort of possessed individual and different family, abut it’s Marcus and Thomas – our priests, our recurring characters – that you’re gonna follow and have investment with.”

Executive producer Sarah Crouch added, “Six seasons and a movie, that’s our aim [laughs]. And then we go into the Vatican this season and really get into that story with Father Bennett and hopefully that’s our connective tissue in the mythology of the show. It could go for six or seven seasons and hopefully have a very satisfying ending.”

For Season 2 of The Exorcist, the current synopsis reads:

Opening an entirely new chapter in the iconic franchise, this year’s second season of “The Exorcist” finds Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) and a newly collarless Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) out of Chicago and on the road, searching out evil. Across the Atlantic, Father Bennett (Kurt Egyiawan) attempts to weed out those within the Vatican who have turned against God. Ultimately, Tomas and Marcus are led to Andrew Kim (John Cho), a former child psychologist who runs a group home for five at-risk foster children on a secluded private island off the coast of Seattle. When one of the children under Andrew’s care is targeted by a powerful force, the two priests head west, setting themselves on a collision course with Hell.

The Exorcist returns to US screens on September 29th, with a UK return yet to be confirmed.

BOND 25 Confirmed for November 2019

With recent stories suggesting that Daniel Craig is likely to continue as 007, the next James Bond movie has now been given a confirmed release date.

Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, EON Productions and Gary Barber, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. have moved to announce the next Bond film for a November 8th, 2019 release.

Franchise mainstays Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are on board to write this next outing for England’s greatest spy, although a director has yet to be revealed at this stage. Additionally, the Craig stories have still not been put to rest one way or the other, with the actor still yet to be confirmed as returning to the 007 role or walking away from the franchise altogether. Of course, if you remember back, Craig initially said he’d rather slit his wrists than play Bond again following Spectre. That, though, was followed by him being offered a reported $150 million to reprise the role for just two further movies.

With a release date for Bond 25 now set, it’s fair to say we can expect to be hearing something concrete on Craig’s future sooner rather than later. And, as ever, we’ll bring you more on that as we get it.
