Movie News: Description of Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor Look Surfaces

Despite the majority being lukewarm on Jesse Eisenberg being announced to play Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder’s BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, the big question was whether Eisen-Lex would take on the familiar, classic bald-headed look of Lex. Now comes some apparent news on just what this latest Luthor will look like.

We already know that LexCorp will apparently be a cool, hipster-type company much akin to Google and Facebook, but Batman-News have reports on Eisenberg’s Luthor appearance. The description reads, “It’s not Eisenberg’s typical curly look – it’s a bit longer, kind of loose and wavy, and it’s dirty blonde. Eisenberg’s Luthor has spastic mannerisms, like a 20-something guy that pounds energy drinks all day.”

Added to this report, a user on IMDb claims to have seen Eisenberg’s Luthor in the flesh. Their report says, “Lex has a super modern-hip Facebook/Google style office with a basketball court, pinball tables, etc. Everyone looks ultra douchey and has bowties and blazers, etc. Lex is introduced in which he takes a basketball shot, and in the same motion, after draining a shot, turns around and shakes a senator’s hand, who is there to greet him. He looks like Kurt Cobain, and is a complete douche.”

It goes without saying, but treat the above with a pinch of salt for now. Even if true, in typical Lex fashion, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the long hair actually be a badly-fitted wig.

As well as Eisenberg, DAWN OF JUSTICE will also feature Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, and unconfirmed roles for Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey and Tao Okamoto. In fact, Okamoto has recently been rumoured to be playing Mercy Graves, so often an assistant of Lex’s.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE is currently set for a 6th May 2016 release.

Movie News: Affleck’s Dark Knight Detective to Get Solo Flick THE BATMAN in 2019?

Further to the recent rumour (courtesy of Deadline’s ex-boss Nikki Finke) that DC’s post-DAWN OF JUSTICE movie schedule is set to include SHAZAM and SANDMAN in the same year, followed by JUSTICE LEAGUE, WONDER WOMAN and a FLASH/GREEN LANTERN team up flick the next (utter nonsense), capped off by 2018’s MAN OF STEEL 2, comes a brand new report as to what the studio has planned for 2019. That’s right, we’re now talking about summer blockbuster releases that are five years away. Ludicrous. Anyway, the occasionally bang-on-the-money rumour factory that is Latino Review are reporting that Warner Bros are eyeing a 2019 debut for THE BATMAN, Affleck’s first solo outing for the soon-to-be-rebooted Dark Knight Detective. Do we believe ‘em? Absolutely.

As for the rest of DC’s rumoured slate, well, the fact it never even made our front page probably clues you in to how little stock we put in that one. Shazam? Does anybody truly believe DC/Warner Bros would diminish one of their flagship icons by introducing the masses to an even lesser known brightly coloured, super-strengthed flying bloke in a cape? Or how about spending even more money rolling the dice again on a Green Lantern picture? Not going to happen, with or without The Flash randomly knocking about (doubly so considering that particular character will likely have his own TV show running concurrently). We even doubt Supes will be granted his own bona fide sequel anytime soon! The only truth in that list comes in the form of JUSTICE LEAGUE (already confirmed), the SANDMAN movie we already knew was in the works, and that solo WONDER WOMAN flick that’s long overdue. Expect confirmation at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, where the studio will likely look to steal some thunder by capitalising on Marvel Studios’ recent super secret approach to scheduling.

BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE opens May 2016.

With TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION due for to be released in a few weeks’ time, now comes word on a fifth TRANSFORMERS movie and some other notable releases. Tying this story together is 2016, with all of the mentioned films to see some cinema time the year after next.

Paramount is said to be already working on a fifth TRANSFORMERS, and June or July of 2016 is the expected release date for that movie. Despite this film definitely happening, it seems as if Michael Bay won’t be returning this time out.

Elsewhere, 2016 will also see release of G.I. JOE 3, HANSEL & GRETEL 2, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 5, the as-expected STAR TREK 3, and, err, BEVERLEY HILLS COP 4. In addition to these, the next BOURNE movie has been pushed back from 14th August, 2015 to 15th July, 2016.

Movie News: Details Surface on AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON & ANT-MAN

Treat all of this with a pinch of salt for now, but JoBlo has some apparent news on what we will see in Marvel Studios’ AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and ANT-MAN.

First up, in terms of the AVENGERS ASSEMBLE sequel, it’s said:

– The Avengers Tower, which is actually at the University of East Anglia, will be massive, comprising of a large landing platform and garage for a new and stylish Quinjet.

– Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner and Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark will have their own shared lab at Avengers Tower.

– Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow will be getting some new duds, with will apparently be similar in look to something from TRON and will have electricity pulsing through it. In addition to this, she’ll also have some batons.

– The Hulk’s iconic purple threads will be adorned with the Avengers “A” logo, as well all of the other heroes’ outfits.

– Iron Man will mainly where the Mark 43 suit, although the Hulkbuster suit will also make an appearance.

– Ultron will have a fully-articulated face and his suit will have a “red firelight underneath, giving him a kind of Balrog effect from “LOTR.” He will also have an army of drones that resemble him but aren’t identical.

– The Vision will completely be Paul Bettany, as in his voice, face and body… albeit it in a shiny metallic gold, red and green form. And yes, there will be a yellow cape included as part of his outfit.

Now if those details for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON weren’t enough to keep your anticipation levels up, here’s the current report on what we can expect to see in Peyton Reed’s ANT-MAN:

– Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang is a single father and a thief who breaks into Hank Pym’s apartment and steals his Ant-Man outfit.

– The main villain will be Darren Cross and will likely be played by Patrick Wilson or Corey Stoll. He will possess a suit similar to Ant-Man’s but with a more military style, in black and yellow, and similar in design to Flash Thompson’s Agent Venom costume. The character was the head of Cross Technological Enterprises in the comic books, and troubles with his heart led to him turning to the dark side. His cousin, William Cross, who becomes Crossfire, is also likely to appear in some form. Early news is that Stoll will be Darren Cross and Wilson will be William Cross.

– Ant-Man’s suit will be far more elaborate to the test footage and stills we’ve seen so far. Again, this suit is also said to resemble something from TRON, with red lights dotted over the suit. The helmet will open and close, and the eyes will glow red when closed.

As mentioned at the start, treat all of this as rumour for now, although JoBlo are usually pretty spot on with this stuff.

Directed by Joss Whedon, AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is released on 24th April, 2015 in the UK, whilst ANT-MAN, despite its recent problems, is still set for a 17thJuly, 2015 release.

Movie News: Scott Derrickson To Pen THE OUTER LIMITS

The Outer Limits

It looks like the SINISTER writing team of Scott Derrickson and C.Robert Cargill are on-board to pen the script for the MGM’s planned feature version of classic ’60s TV show, THE OUTER LIMITS.

Rather than taking an anthology format, it seems the plan is to remake the episode DEMON WITH THE GLASS HAND, originally written by Harlan Ellison.

In the TV version, a group of aliens from the Kyben race are hunting a man with no memory of anything beyond the previous ten days. Oh, and he’s from the future, and he has a computerised hand which is missing a three digits, and he must reattach them before he can find out what’s going on.

MGM would no doubt love to be able to build a franchise around the series, which although not as famous as THE TWILIGHT ZONE still has millions of fans and many genuinely brilliant episodes.

Derrickson, of course, was recently announced for the upcoming DOCTOR STRANGE movie, and took to Twitter in a similar fashion to tease his involvement.

No word yet on any projected release date or director, but no doubt, news will be forthcoming.

More news when we get it.

TV News: First Image Debuts for THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO!

ITV has released a sneak peak at the design of Thunderbird 1 from its THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO! reboot.

Jamie Anderson (MD of Anderson Entertainment) had this to say:

“It’s great to see how closely this new Thunderbird 1 design follows the beautiful and truly iconic original by design and effects maestro Derek Meddings. I’m hopeful that it’s a positive sign of things to come. It seems clear that the team at Weta Workshop are truly passionate about the original series – I know lots of them are massive fans of the original THUNDERBIRDS and we’re all really looking forward to seeing what they come up with for the remaining craft as well as the series itself.”

Take a look for yourselves…

2015 sees the fiftieth anniversary of THUNDERBIRDS and the ITV remake joins other projects such as a book series GEMINI FORCE ONE and the audio series of TERRAHAWKS from Big Finish.
