Blade Runner

As if the pending debut of Prometheus wasn’t enough for Ridley Scott, he’s gone and hyped up his new Blade Runner as well.

Like Prometheus, Blade Runner was, until recently, something of a mystery.  Would it be a prequel, sequel or remake?  Who will be the protagonist? Will Harrison Ford be in it?

Well all three questions have been answered in efficient succession. Earlier this month it was revealed that the film will be a sequel, and will feature a female protagonist.

Although no-one has been linked to the role as yet, Scott is scheduled to direct The Counselor next and will be working with potential replicant hunters Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz (who replaces Angelina Jolie).

In an interview with The Independent , Scott confirmed that he wants Harrison Ford in the sequel. He said “I don’t think it’ll be Harry (starring), but I’ve got to have him in it somewhere. That’d be amusing.”  It is not yet known if the 69 year old sci-fi legend would be interested, but he is still very active having starred in Cowboys and Aliens last year and with three films, including another Indiana Jones film, in the pipeline.

Prometheus is out 1 June, Blade Runner is scheduled for release in 2014.
