BEETLEJUICE was the debut feature for idiosyncratic filmmaker Tim Burton; for some it remains the highpoint of his career, balancing childhood phobias and gothic imagery in one charming package. There have been whispers of a sequel for some time, and confirmation that a screenplay has been written by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith.

Michael Keaton, perhaps most infamous for his portrayal of the eponymous, undead sex-pest, has been promoting his latest film effort, the ROBOCOP reboot. He has, however, revealed that he’s been in conversation with Burton. On his involvement with the sequel, Keaton stated: “I’ve e-mailed Tim a couple of times,” he says. “Talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff. I always said that’s the one thing I’d like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another”

Burton is currently working on BIG EYES. Expect the unexpected as far as BEETLEJUICE is concerned.
