Grimmfest, the premier northern film festival for all things horror, extreme and cult has announced the line-up for this year’s event.

The roster includes motley mix of UK (and world) firsts, and recent festival hits and kicks off on Thursday October 1st and runs through to Sunday October 4th at Manchester’s Odeon Printworks.

Among the fantastic films being screened are the world premieres of The Box, the directorial debut from SFX legend Shaune Harrison and which stars Grimm alumni Dominic Brunt, the pair attending to host the screening,  and DMX, the latest from Gallowwakers director Anthony Goth.

UK firsts include the anthology German Angst, which sees the notorious Jörg Buttgereit (Nekromantik) back behind the camera again, Henry Rollins stars in He Never Died, the feminist body horror Excess Flesh, viral possession flick The Hive, and the reality-bending Synchronicity.

It’s also a chance for those outside of London to see the latest popular festival hits such as the OTT metal horror Deathgasm, Turbo Kid, We Are Still Here, and Howl.

Classic films are not forgotten with a screening of the newly remastered version of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser and a charity tribute showing of the late Wes Craven’s Scream.
