Patrick Gibson and Sarah Michelle Gellar star in the official trailer for Showtime’s prequel series Dexter: Original Sin. Gibson plays the younger version of Michael C. Hall’s titular Dexter Morgan, while Gellar stars as the CSI Chief who unwittingly trains a certain serial killer-to-be.

Also starring are Christian Slater, Molly Brown, James Martinez as Angel Batista, with Christina Milian as Maria LaGuerta, Alex Shimizu as Vince Masuka, Reno Wilson as Bobby Watt, and Patrick Dempsey as Aaron Spencer, Captain of the Miami Metro Homicide Division. Dexter’s showrunner, Clyde Phillips, returns to showrun this prequel series. Michael C. Hall is also returning to voice Dexter’s iconic inner monologue.

The 10-episode original drama series hails from Paramount+ with Showtime. Dexter: Original Sin takes place in 1991 Miami, and revolves around Dexter as he goes from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.
