Just when you thought you’d seen the last of the former Jakku scavenger, news comes that Daisy Ridley will reprise her role as Rey in the upcoming Star Wars movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

The announcement was made at the Star Wars Celebration in London this morning. The unnamed film, penned by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, will be set fifteen years after the events of Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (when we last saw Daisy Ridley) and will follow Rey as she attempts to build a new Jedi Order.

News also came that Dave Filoni and James Mangold would helm the other two new movies in the franchise. Mangold will helm one set in the deep past and centred on the dawn of the Jedi, while Filoni will head up another set in the “present” and which will act as a climactic event for the current Star Wars series The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and the upcoming Ahsoka.

No release timeline on any of those three films has yet been announced, but stay tuned.

After some false starts, it finally seems like Star Wars movies are well and truly back and us folks at STARBURST cannot wait.
