In some casting news, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Homecoming has brought in three new faces.

The most intriguing of these new additions is Community’s Donald Glover, who has landed a mystery role in Jon Watt’s Spidey movie. What makes this addition particularly noteworthy is that Glover was at one point being heralded to play Miles Morales, the “Ultimate” Spider-Man who came to prominence after “Ultimate” Peter Parker was killed off in the comic book realm, when the concept of a new cinematic Wallcrawler came up a year or so ago. At that point, there was some talk that the powers-that-be may decide to have Morales as Spidey rather than Peter Parker, what with Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield having already had a crack at Peter. Obviously Peter Parker was decided on as this new Spidey, with Tom Holland having debuted as the character in Captain America: Civil War.

As for the other new faces to join Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming, Silicon Valley’s Martin Starr has landed an unknown role, whilst Prometheus’ Logan Marshall-Green will be playing a villain in the feature. It’s not known just which villain Marshall-Green will be portraying, although it’s believed to be a secondary one next to Michael Keaton’s ‘big bad’, Adrian Toomes/The Vulture. It’s worth noting that previous reports suggested that The Tinkerer was to be a part of the film, helping The Vulture in putting together his famed harness/wings get-up using Chitauri tech left behind after Avengers Assemble’s Battle of New York.

Already on board for the film are Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Kenneth Choi as the principal of Peter’s school, Zendaya as a female lead known only as Michelle, and then roles for Michael Barbieri, Laura Harrier and Tony Revolori. As for Keaton, he’s believed to be all signed up to play Toomes/The Vulture, although there’s nothing official on that just yet.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently set for a July 7th, 2017 release.
