At a time when so many movies are being adapted for the small screen, The Wrap is reporting that MINORITY REPORT is the latest flick to be added to the every-growing list of TV interpretations. The series will be based on the Steven Spielberg movie and also on Philip K. Dick’s original short story. Additionally, Spielberg will be involved in developing the series.

The 2002 film starred Tom Cruise as Chief John Anderton, a law enforcement officer who worked for a special police unit based in Washington, DC. What made them so special is that they have the power to stop crimes before they ever happen. Cruise’s character inevitably ended up becoming the hunted rather than the hunter.

Just how closely the series will tie to Spielberg’s movie or Dick’s short is not yet known. All that’s been teased so far is that the producers are looking to cast an unknown in the lead role.

Expect more on this as it develops.
