With Barry Allen, aka DC’s The Flash, set to debut up in the upcoming season of The CW’s ARROW, the show’s racing against the clock to cast the role. Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg recently confirmed that the first episode to feature Allen will start filming at the end of September. With that said, Latino Review claim to have the scoop on the current front-runners to play Barry Allen.

LR’s report claims that the race is down to three actors, with the three in question being invited back to read for the part yesterday – James Mackay (far right), Matt Barr and Grant Gustin (left). 28-year-old Mackay is an Australian actor best known for his theatre work and for winning the 2013 Heath Ledger Scholarship Award. He also appeared in DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK. As for Barr, the 29-year-old’s recent work includes HATFIELDS & MCCOYS, HELLCATS and ONE TREE HILL. Gustin, 23, is best known for his role of Sebastian Smythe in TV’s GLEE (not that we have a clue who that is).

A final decision on the casting of Barry Allen is expected imminently, with the character set to appear in three episodes of the upcoming season of ARROW, with his own spin-off show then planned.

Season 2 of ARROW debuts in the US on 9th October, with the UK airing expected to follow a few days later.
