FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully will be reopening The X-Files very early in 2016.

American broadcaster Fox has stated that the premiere of the six-episode event series will occur Sunday, January 24th. The second episode will then air Monday, January 25th with the remaining four episodes also airing on Monday at 8pm. The X-Files is effectively filling in for Gotham when it’s on its mid-season hiatus.

The X-Files creator Chris Carter said, “I think of it as a 13-year commercial break. The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

Writers of the original show Glen Morgan, James Wong and Darin Morgan will be scripting the series along with Carter.

It has already been confirmed that the original show’s stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and Mitch Pileggi are returning to the ground breaking series that spontaneously captured the zeitgeist of the early ’90s.
