Netflix has just released a teaser trailer for The Witcher season 3, as well as announcing the fantasy series would release to the streamer on June 29th.

Henry Cavill returns as Geralt of Rivia, a supernatural monster hunter whose life intersects with two other characters’: the witch Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and the young Princess Cirilla of Cintra (Freya Allan), in a world populated by humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters. Netflix also welcomes four new actors to its third season castRobbie Amell (The BabysitterUpload), Meng’er Zhang (Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings), Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia Here We Go Again!, Fleabag), and Christelle Elwin (Half Bad).

In this third season, the monarchs, mages and beasts of the Continent race to capture Ciri as she and Geralt go to ground. Yennefer, still entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, leads them to the fortress of Aretuza in hopes of discovering more about the girl’s powers. Instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery.

The Witcher Season 3 has been split into two parts: while the first five episodes will release June 29th, the final three will be available from July 27th. It’s a similar release model to what Netflix did with season 4 of Stranger Things.

Season 3 is due to be Henry Cavill’s final appearance as Geralt of Rivia, since Netflix announced in October of last year that The Hunger Games‘ Liam Hemsworth would be recast in the role. The decision was made after Cavill stepped down from The Witcher‘s fourth season, presumably to focus on his DC return as Superman – at least, until James Gunn and Peter Safran decided to recast the role. The whole thing was a mess.

This summer, “everything changes”, promises the teaser trailer. Watch it below:
