A new The Flash trailer has landed at CinemaCon, at last promising a worthy entry into the DC Cinematic Universe; with multiple Barry Allen’s, two Batman’s, Zod’s return and Supergirl in tow, fans can start getting excited for the film’s June 16th release.

Andy Muschietti directs The Flash, which stars Ezra Miller in the titular role, with Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck both reprising their versions of Batman, and Sasha Calle starring as Supergirl. Meanwhile, Michael Shannon reprises his role of General Zod from Man of Steel.

Peter Safran, presenting the trailer at the Con, explained that Barry Allen/The Flash has the power to change the past and future, and that this film “resets the DC universe” using that power. No doubt this will be used to explain the DC’s directional shift following Safran and James Gunn’s appointment to lead DC Studios.

Per the synopsis, “Worlds collide in “The Flash” when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?”

The DC feature releases in cinemas on June 16th. Watch the new The Flash trailer below:
