To many of us here at Moonbase Alpha (well, maybe just this particular writer…), Bryan Bertino’s 2008 horror The Strangers was a mightily enjoyable, tension-filled, edge-of-your-seat, thrill-ride of a movie and we’ve been anxiously awaiting that long-mooted sequel ever since we first saw it. Well, finally The Strangers 2 seems a goer.

The Wrap is reporting the news, with Relativity Media recently revealing their upcoming movie slate for 2016; a slate which just so happens to include The Strangers 2. The release date for the follow-up is currently down as December 2nd of next year.

At the last count, Marcel Langenegger was on board to direct the sequel, with Chosen’s Ben Ketai on writing duties. Whether this is still the case remains to be seen as all’s been quiet on the Strangers 2 front for a while now.

Plot-wise, the previous reports on the sequel said that the focus would be on a family who are close to sending their troubled teen daughter to boarding school. Embarking on one final family holiday to a mobile home park, things take a twisted turn when they find some dead bodies and it’s soon revealed that Man in the Mask, Pin Up Girl, and Dollface are lurking nearby.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
