Get prepared to add The Craft to the horror remake pile.

Yes, Andrew Fleming’s 1996 movie is apparently to get the remake treatment, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Honeymoon’s Leigh Janiak has been brought in by Sony to co-write and direct the redo.

Plot-wise, the original film focussed on a group of teen witches, played by Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell and Rachel True. When a “natural” witch arrives at a high school which already houses three darker witches, the four initially hang out together before things take a creepy turn after the natural witch is targeted by the other three. As ever, payback is a bitch. The Craft came along on the wave of mid to late ‘90s horror that, along with the likes of Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, helped give the genre a little bit of a kick up the backside.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
