CBS’ Supergirl has added another familiar DC face to its ranks.

ET reports that Italia Ricci has landed the role of Siobhan Smythe, better known by her villainous alter-ego of Silver Banshee. Ricci is best known for her work on Chasing Life. As for the Smythe character, she’ll debut as a “work nemesis” of Kara’s at CatCo before her Silver Banshee side begins to torment National City and grabs the attention of the Maid of Might herself.

On this new addition, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “We are so excited to be working with Italia. We’ve been a fan of her work for years and we cannot wait to see her take on this iconic comic book role.”

Created by John Byrne, Silver Banshee debuted in 1987’s Action Comics #595 as a Superman villain. She was initially based on the famed Banshee of Irish legend and had the ability to fly whilst being able to use a death wail. The version to be used in Supergirl seems to be more based on the New 52 reinvention of the character, who actually becomes a friend of the Girl of Steel at first.
