Whilst Supergirl is speedily heading towards her mid-season break over here in the UK, the show has added a new cast member in the form of Christopher Showerman.

Showerman is likely best known to most for taking on the titular role in Disney’s George in the Jungle 2. In Supergirl, he’ll be playing Tor, a rogue who is a follower of Chris Vance’s Non. Tor is based on DC’s Tor-An, a Kryptonian who is a part of General Zod’s army in the comic book realm. Showerman will make his debut in the mid-season premiere, titled Blood Bonds, which will air in the US on January 4th. It’s believed that Tor will be a recurring character throughout the rest of the season.

Interestingly enough, Christopher Showerman was at one point in the frame to the play the Big Blue Boy Scout, Superman himself, a decade or so ago. The bodybuilder-turned-actor was up for the role of the Man of Steel in Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns before that gig ultimately went to Brandon Routh.
