Following last week’s news that Michelle Yeoh was the first confirmed cast member for next year’s Star Trek: Discovery, now comes word on some other confirmed cast additions for the upcoming show.

CBS has revealed that Doug Jones and Anthony Rapp are part of Discovery’s principal cast. Jones, best known for the likes of Pan’s Labyrinth, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and the Hellboy franchise, will be playing Lieutenant Saru, a Starfleet Science Officer and part of an alien species completely new to Star Trek lore. As for Rent’s Rapp, he’ll be playing Lieutenant Stamets, described as an astromycologist, fungus expert, and another of the Discovery’s Starfleet Science Officers.

In addition to these two new additions, the network has also moved to confirm Yeoh’s previously-unknown role in the series, with her now officially playing Captain Georgiou, the Starfleet Captain of the Starship Shenzhou.

Star Trek: Discovery will debut on CBS and then CBS All Access next May in the US, with the series to have a home on Netflix in the UK and a whole host of other countries.
