Having been known as Saw: Legacy for the
past year or more, it looks as if the upcoming eighth movie in the Saw
franchise is about to be been given a new title.
In fairness, it had been long said that the
Saw: Legacy moniker was merely a temporary holding title while Lionsgate
decided on an official name for the film. As per Bloody-Disgusting, the
current idea seems to be to call the film simply Jigsaw. Whilst that’s yet to be made official at this stage, it’s
the title at the top of the tree following recent discussions from those
involved in the picture. Interestingly, Jigsaw
was the planned title for James Wan and Leigh Whannell’s original Saw movie.
Of course, the film has already finished
shooting ahead of its October release. On board to star are the likes of
Mandela Van Peebles, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie,
Matt Passmore, James Gomez, and we know that Tobin Bell will be back in some
capacity. Daybreakers’ Michael and
Peter Spierig are directing from a script by Piranha 3D’s Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg.
The current synopsis for the film reads:
are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As
the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how
can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an
apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the
