In some good news for fans of Arrow’s Roy Harper, actor Colton Haynes has confirmed that the former Arsenal will be returning to the show later this season.

Taking to Twitter, Haynes revealed, “Just landed in Vancouver to…BEGIN FILMING ON #ARROW AGAIN!!!! So excited!!!”

Of course, last season saw Roy Harper written out of the main storyline of Arrow. He’d taken the blame for being the Arrow and was sent to prison for his apparent crimes where he was promptly killed by some inmates. This was revealed to all be a ruse to fake his death and ended up with Harper leaving Starling City. He did appear once more when Thea tracked him down, but he then shot off and left young Miss Queen in bed after one final night of fun. In real life, Colton Haynes was written out of the show because he was looking to break into movies, with the actor nabbing a part in Dwayne Johnson’s disaster movie San Andreas.

On this return, Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim told EW, “We are beyond thrilled that Colton will be returning to Arrow this season. It was always our intention to have him return following his departure last season, but it was a matter of finding the right storyline to pull it off. That opportunity presented itself in episode 412 and we can’t wait for the fans to see this reunion.”

So that’s that: Roy Harper will make his return in the twelfth episode of this current season. Things will be a little different for Roy this time out; for a start, Thea has seemingly moved on to a new beau, Alex, and then there’s the fact that the then-dead Sara Lance is now alive and well (well, unhinged), not to mention Ollie now going by the moniker of Green Arrow.
