With the next X-Men movie now officially titled X-Men: Dark Phoenix, now comes some word on some possible new additions ahead of the film’s production getting rolling.

As per Omega Underground, some audition videos have been discovered that show three actors trying out for four roles in the next main X-Men movie. According to this report, Dance Academy’s Rarmian Newton has tried out for the roles of Colin and Shane, Billions’ Alexa Swinton for Marie, and newcomer Paul Mescal for Sam.

Like so often with casting auditions, the names given to the roles themselves are usually just placeholders and fake names to hide the real characters. What’s most interesting here, though, is that the Alexa Swinton audition appears to be for a younger version of Rogue. Comic book favourite Rogue, of course, has been played by Anna Paquin in the X-Men movie-verse so far.

As well as Dark Phoenix, there’s a whole host of other X-action on the way over the next few years, with Deadpool 2, Deadpool 3, X-Force, The New Mutants and possibly even still the Channing Tatum-headlined Gambit all still to come.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is due to start production in Montreal next month ahead of its November 2018 release.

As ever, expect more on all of this as we get it.
