With James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 heading to cinemas in just a matter of months, now comes word from Marvel and Disney XD that Rocket Raccoon and Groot are headlining their own batch of 12 animated shorts.

Titled simply Rocket and Groot, these shorts will follow the duo as they attempt to get together enough credits to purchase a new ship. Disney XD will premiere a compilation of these shorts on April 10th at 7am in the United States. Arnaud Delord has directed said shorts, with Chris “Doc” Wyatt and Kevin Burke on writing duties. Reprising their respective roles from the animated Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy series are Trevor Devall as the ever-chatty raccoon and Michael Richardson as everyone’s favourite wooden being.

As for the big screen shenanigans of the Guardians, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set for an April 27th UK release ahead of a May 5th global release.
