With The Flash currently on its mid-season break, the show will feature the return of Ronnie Raymond when Season 2 continues later this month. The thing is, this will be a slightly different take on Robbie Amell’s Ronnie.

The CW has revealed, via EW, that Amell will be back as the Earth-2 version of Ronnie Raymond. Of course, the last time we saw Earth-1 Ronnie was when he sacrificed himself to save the planet in the opening episode of the current season. What’s most intriguing about this Earth-2 version of Raymond is that he won’t be appearing as Firestorm – instead he’ll be the villainous Deathstorm!

On this news, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “We are beyond excited to have Robbie back on The Flash. You can’t keep a good Firestorm down. Only this time, he’s back with a twist, a deadly Earth-2 version of our beloved Ronnie in the form of Deathstorm.”

In the DC comic book world, there’s been two versions of Deathstorm. The first version appeared during the Blackest Night arc, in which Ronnie Raymond was resurrected as a Black Lantern. The second version of Deathstorm was a member of Earth-3’s Crime Syndicate, which is basically an all-evil Justice League team.

The Flash returns to US screens on January 19th, with a UK return expected to follow shortly after.
